Now that would be severe! I wouldn't be surprised of some games next year. But that would be huge!!! Goodell does have to look strong though because of all the crud he went through earlier this year with all the player misconduct stuff. People were asking for his head.

Goodall needs to not overreact. If the rulebook says $25,000 fine (not limited to it), you can't just jump to a SB suspension. If it turns out that the Patriots indeed tampered with the football AFTER (which does make a huge difference) they were approved by the officials, I would expect discipline no harsher than that of Spygate.

Who cares about the NFL Network? The NFL does NOT have some secret or public love affair for the Pats. So many people in the NFL HATE the Pats and want Belichick gone.

And since it's the official NFL Network they need to be more careful on how they report things since they are not an independent news source. They don't have the luxory of being reporters for some local Indy newspaper who also has their own Twitter account to leak things on.

Seahawks aren't victims and neither are the Patriots.

The NFL is not protecting the Patriots.

And because there is people out there who think like you and a national perception that Goodell and Kraft are some how "good buddies" then Goodell is now in a position to come down extra hard on the Pats.

Goodell has no other choice than to really hammer people. His reputation and job is on the line.
Emphasis mine. The highlighted quote made me laugh. The Patriots aren't victims because they're the ones cheating. The Seahawks just aren't victims. Part of what I love about them.

Regarding the NFL protecting the Patriots, personally, I agree that this isn't true. The NFL is protecting itself, and two weeks before the SB a scandal is bad for business. Now that this is out, they will do an investigation and try to sweep it under the rug as best as possible. Again, my prediction is that they fire the ball boy and call it a day. Maybe a fine, but at this point, I doubt it.

1. Did the referees check the footballs with a barometer,

No. A barometer is a meteorological instrument used for measuring atmospheric pressure, which is a absolute pressure measurement.

Measurement of a football would be performed with a relative measurement with something like a Bourdon gauge.

Maybe the NFL official checked 11 of 12 of the Patriots' balls in an aircraft a few thousand feet above Foxboro which would account for the pressure differential.

Funniest thing I've read so far is the assertion that the balls were deflated because Gronk spikes them so hard when he scores a touchdown. WTH???

I Think Billy needs suspended. The 500 thousand dollar fine didnt deter him maybe with his competitive nature the only thing that will matter is him being away from the game. If its true this has been going on since the first Colts game should be harsh.

There's two ways to judge this, on it's consequences, or it's intent/principle.

If one goes on the consequences, then the Pats should get a slap on the wrist, maybe some $ fine, or even a low round draft pick. Whether the ball was deflated or not meant nothing on the result of the game. The Pats would've kicked their ass either way.

HOWEVER, if one judges this on the intent or principle of the action- the fact that there was deliberate deception before the game took place, no matter how little it affected the consequence or result then the penalty should be stiff. Perhaps a one year suspension for Belichik (a la Sean Payton)? A first round draft pick loss and/or salary cap reduction?

What a surprise, more people begging for punishment before the verdict is out. We don't even have confirmation about the 11/12 balls from the NFL. Nothing but leaks and supposed sources. But don't let that get in the way of a good witch hunt

Just curious what do you Hawk fans think the NFL should do to the Pats.

Probably a fine of some kind after the season is over. Maybe the loss of a draft pick if the league is feeling salty. That's it.
Personally, it really depends upon how deep this goes after a thorough investigation. I expect very little from Goodell. But if this is an example of an organizational integrity issue, the penalties should be pretty severe.

I'd be disappointed if Belichick was suspended for the SB. Takes the air out of the game (pun intended).

Take away a 1st round pick, fine them, move on. Let's go.
