Waldron isnt even qualified to be an OC. The OC is with that side of the ball the vast majority of the time. He leads them everyday. And just as he is unqualified to be an OC, he sure as hell isnt qualified to lead an entire side of the ball.
Thr only reason he's an OC is because Pete threw him a bone to appease Russ. Thats it.
Thats all.
And when he gets fired from Chicago, he wont get another shot again. The league knows he sucks. Analysts know he sucks. I just hope for his sake he save all the dollars Seattle and Chicago gifted him.
Caleb Williams? The Bears offense? You wont see what they can do until Shane is gone.
Alright, but Waldron's had a top-16 offense every season in Seattle in DVOA and EPA. So, what are your qualifications for being a qualified OC?
Pete and John wanted Waldron. The stories that Waldron was Wilson's guy came from Wilson's camp. They wanted to make it seem like Russ had power in the organization—that
Seattle's choice was
his choice. We know Seattle planned on moving on from Russ the following offseason. They didn't hire Waldron to appease Russ.
Waldron is flawed. He hasn't figured out how to overcome bad offensive line play. That's a huge issue in Chicago, and unlike Seattle, they don't have an experienced quarterback to bail them out. Instead, Williams is completing passes at a rate of 5% under expected. He's a bottom-five quarterback. And as we saw with Frank Reich last season, you look incompetent when your rookie QB isn't operating at an expected level.
