Must mean the Brown trade is now official

This is great. Should free up Jimmy Graham to focus on helping Ifedi on the right side of the line.

Yes, Brown had a press conference today. The Seahawks are purposely being slow to release the information about Battles release, but I was on their roster page today, and he's still listed (there are 54 players listed) but if you click his name, the page doesn't load. The rest of them do, including Brown's new page.

I'm wondering if they are trying to sneak him onto the practice squad, but I'm not sure if he even has PS eligibility or now. I haven't researched that at all.

I know this is meant in jest, but actually the Brown acquisition could easily trickle down to far fewer blocking assignments for Graham.

Seattle has had to chip with backs and TEs constantly this year. I would expect to see a loosening of coverage as we're more able to send an extra receiver into the play.

Why would we want Jimmy to help Ifedi, I'd rather Brown lock down one side, and free up Graham. Let him loose, let him roar

So we lost the Battle to help win the war then?

I was hoping they'd release Tobin instead... Battle has upside, Tobin is a vet who couldn't beat out Odhiambo. Battle is a developmental prospect so I'm sure they're hoping to sneak him on to the PS, and they're probably also going all-in on the "win now" strategy.

anyone know what the conditions was for our draft pick that we traded? Can't even find what we gave up - hoping we get it back now since he never played

I totally agree but if we keep Brown, then Fant is the developmental project. With even more upside.

Tobin didn't have time to beat out Odhiambo. He was coming in as the season was beginning with zero knowledge of any of the line calls or plays, having to play catch-up on that and try to get 1st team reps...

Also the only reason we have to believe Battle had so much "upside" is because the coaching staff spent a bunch of time raving about how good he looked in practices. They've said the same things about so many other guys in the past. Remember them raving about how good Gary Gilliam was going to be?

To me draft picks tell more of the story here. It took a 5th to get Tobin, and only a 7th to get Battle. Tobin clearly has more value to NFL teams than Battle did.

Battle, 24, came to Seattle in a trade with Kansas City as part of the moves to establish a 53-man roster prior to the start of the season, with the Seahawks sending a seventh-round pick to the Chiefs.

Battle, who played collegiately at Clemson and previously played for the St. Louis and Los Angeles Rams, was inactive for Seattle’s first seven games

Perhaps, but I think it is more that we lost the Battle to punish SeaHawks.Net.

We are coming up on week 9. Tobin is a 5th-year vet who we signed on August 22nd, shortly after Fant went down. Odhiambo was going in to his 2nd year, having never started at LT, so even though he may have been more familiar with the playbook, the odds weren't exactly stacked in his favor. Tobin couldn't beat him out then and he couldn't beat him out through week 8 of the season.

Tobin is probably more capable of contributing this season than Battle should injuries force him in to action, but at this point he's 3rd choice at LT, maybe 4th choice once Joekel comes back. I would have preferred to keep Battle for his upside. The fact that he's more ready than Battle and Battle would be eligible for the PS should he clear waivers is probably why the Seahawks went the direction they did.

Tobin does the tackle eligible also, waiting for that to be used at some point.

I was excited to go from the lingerie section of the Sears catalog to playboy, but the excitement has diminishing returns.

It was a conditional 7th round pick but the conditions are typically not divulged until just before the draft.

We'll have to wait and see.
