Do not over pay. Bears aren’t going anywhere so a 4th or 5th round pick should be in play. He’s leaving one way or another. No way should Hawks pay a 1-3 rd pick at this point in the season.

They'll get a 2024 third-round comp pick for him if he leaves in free agency, so a 2023 fourth-rounder is actually about right, if we use the "rule of thumb" that a pick in round r of the draft in year y is worth roughly the same as a pick in round r-1 in year y+1.

Yes, the Bears are not going anywhere and he is likely gone one way or another. However, assuming that his trade value is based on those factors disregards the reality of multiple bidders. The trade of a player is in essence an auction. The price is not set by the lowest price the seller is willing to accept (unless there is only one bidder). In general, the price is set by what the second highest bidder is willing to pay.

Gentleman... Its the scheme, stay with me for a moment. If Dick Butkus, as a rookie started in a 3-4 and played in a 3-4 though out his career he wouldn't have been as successful as he was.

LBers have to flow to the ball or gap, in a 3-4 they are tripping over each other to get to the point of attack, thats why the 4-3 is a much better scheme.

That and its easyer for the gaurds to get out to the second level to block them.
Please let this be your thing for the rest of the time on this site. You should have a "Leader of the 43 gang" as flair or part of your signature.

Ahahahahahahaha.

I like that thinking. Yes the Broncos should had given Seattle only a 1st round pick in 2023 because The Hawks weren't going anywhere. He's leaving one way or another.

It’s hard not to look at it with a bit of bias. I know this doesn’t predetermine anything but, when a player is “disgruntled” with an organization, it does make you wonder if it would happen again once traded.

The biggest consideration for me is the potency of our last draft. I’d rather see JS and PC pull off another incredible draft and go from there without forking out the cap.

There’s a few stud defenders that although unproven at the NFL level, I’d take them in a heartbeat (if available) instead of giving up a pick and paying Smith. Not saying they’d come right in and have the impact Smith has…and yes the draft is a gamble…

Guys like Sheldon Richardson, Jadeveon Clowney, Jamal Adams, and Jimmy Graham were big name can’t miss players that valuable draft capital was spent on. All had flashes, but ultimately were someone’s treasure. None of those “names” pushed Seattle to the Super Bowl.

In the case of RS he is not only a talented player but a good fit for the scheme. But this defense needs leaders at the moment and I am not sure RS can handle that load.

I agree. If it was just before training camp when guys by into the alpha rahrah he would’ve be a bigger get. But right now, it’s growing pains.

So without barton as my previous question was, is Seattle running a 3-3-5 and is it working better for them

Worst player on the roster easily. I’ll start till by saying I probably overvalue picks but I’d trade a late round pick for someone to replace him in a second. He’s not even close to making the plays he’s supposed to.

I've never seen a LB so slow with so little awareness
