Go watch the preseason games.

Then go watch the Green Bay game again.

Boldin is absolutely a better receiver than Crabtree. It isn't close.

He catches the ball when covered, even with 2 people literally leaning on him. He makes incredible one handed catches and he is physical. Just like we play a bit in the grey area with how physical our coverage is, Bolding has a knack for pushing people without making it blatant. He does a lot of subtle offensive pass interference that will never get called.

People can mock the results or makes excuses for them all they want but we wouldn't be talking about him so much if he didn't scare us. And he is going to make it that much harder to concentrate on Davis, which was the the old plan we used.

Boldin with Crabtree and Davis on the same field is a nightmare I don't want to consider right now until we get a real pass rush back.

Um...No.

Maybe 5 years ago.

Boldin had a great game, but lets not get all nuts now.

Boldin is better at everything except these two things: yards after the catch (Crabtree is more elusive), and Crabtree is faster. Name ANYTHING else that Crabtree is better at than him.

Man I'm really scared of Anquan Boldin now for tearing up that porous green bay secondary.
I really hope he doesn't have a season like Kevin Ogletree who came out of nowhere last year in the opening game against a rubbish secondary for over 100 yards and 2 TDs then took the league by storm.
Ah, pardon my sarcasm, it's not like the league was filled with breakout rookies like Jared Cook, Jordan Cameron and Rueben Randle.
Wait, you're telling me those are ALL guys with years of experience in the league that somehow managed career bests this week?

How can that be? Surely you can extrapolate one game through the rest of the season and realise all of these guys are going to have 1600 yards?

Those are some pretty damn significant things. LOL.

Outside of Smarts and Cool under pressure, Name ANYTHING that makes Joe Montana better than Ryan Leaf. LOL. Bogus argument.

At this stage in his career, Crabtree is a better player (assuming he's healthy). Crabtree is more elusive, much better at creating space for himself (Boldin doesn't create space...he just catches the ball anyway), Crab gets in and out of his breaks much quicker and as you said, he's faster. Boldin has the savvy of a vet that Crab doesn't yet have, is more powerful and has great hands (Not that Crabs are bad by any stetch).

This isn't a knock on Boldin. I just think we are going a bit nuts after one week.

Well...to be more accurate, Boldin is on pace for 3328 yards and 16 TDs.

Get it right man. :D

both manningham and crabtree are on the pup, but most likely they will get crabtree later than week 7. They also drafted patton who i saw making good plays for them in the preseason.

They have a 2nd round TE Vance Mcdonald whose biggest problem is drops, but he is a big body with speed. they dont have to rely on VD blocking so much.

Their receiving options aren't great, but they aren't bad. With the time the OL gives Kaepernick it will make it easier for them to get open.

:49ersmall: hope no injuries sunday. living in 49er county is bad, but at least i get to see their preseason games/regular season games when bored

Boldin is not as dangerous as crabtree, let's be honest, but he is dangerous for the fact that even when covered well, he can still go get the ball, his ability to catch in tight traffic is as good as anybody playing in the league. you can cover him all day long, but if that ball hits his hands there's a good chance he's coming down with it. it's not his speed or route running or ability to get seperation that scares me, it's his hands...

If Crabtree comes back anywhere close to his usual self this year, look out. Shelf him into the playoffs just to be sure he can cut and be explosive.
