Hopefully he comes back so he can rush for 30 yards on 20 attempts.

I don’t understand. I thought he showed some great promise with an OL that was worse than it is now.

Before his injury:

49 carries

208 yards

4.2 avg

I love when people provide stats to back stuff up. This is why I was saying Carsons injury hasn't been talked about like Sherm, Kam and Cliffs but might have been just as important.

Carson was a Pete Carroll pick. Who else thought he would be good before the draft? I'm curious to see what Carroll will do with three 7th round picks.

Last I heard, they were going to wait and see if Carson would be ready to practice on Wednesday. Perhaps he would play if we make the playoffs.

Carson is much more explosive than Davis, not to mention Rawls or Lacy.

Carson isn't as explosive as Rawls. Will try to find the combine numbers to compare.

Rawls hasn't looked explosive since his rookie year in 2015. His body hasn't held up to his running style, IMO.

Anyway, here are their combine numbers:
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/ ... id=2558246
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/ ... id=2552648

Carson's broad jump: 130''
Rawls' broad jump: 116''

Carson's 40: 4.58 s
Rawls' 40: 4.65 s

Carson's vertical: 37''
Rawls' vertical: 35.5''

He was the only runningback this year that was able to consistently gain yards even if it wasnt that much sometimes.

I will say there were a couple runs yesterday where Rawls looked more explosive than he has in a long time. He's had some bad luck with injuries.

A lot of people did and still do have some really funny ideas about Rawls. He was never some great talent. Go back and look at the run blocking in the latter half of 2015 and you'll see the roots of the lie. It's not unlike the run blocking that Collins is getting in Baltimore. Basically anyone looks good when you aren't touched for 4 yards.

I remember Rawls breaking several tackles, running through contact, and finishing hard in 2015. Then he had one lower body injury after another.

Alex Collins broken tackles percentage was 32% before this past weeks game, which was third in the league for backs with over 100 rushing attempts. It's not like he's got wide open holes all game.

Going beyond my own recollection . . .

Rawls was our 12th-highest-graded running back overall last year (81.1 grade), despite managing only 147 carries. He generated 3.1 yards after contact per attempt, adding a further 26 broken tackles

https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/p ... -potential

Rawls was even better as a rookie (3.1 yards AFTER contact) than Carson (2.7 yards after contact).

It doesnt matter. It is the same God awful offensive line that gets shoved backwards on every run play. We could reincarnate Tecmo Bowl Bo Jackson and it would make a minor difference. Nothing is going to change with the run game until Cable is gone.

It does matter. Carson was producing behind a horrid OL because he's a stud.

As far as Rawls and Collins, when you can just run to a gap downhill at full speed without having to stop or deviate in any way, that's what happens. It is literally a running back's luxury. The mark of a running back worth the trouble is one that can create. Beyond that you're talking about a JAG, which is what Rawls and Collins are.

I wonder if we would have made the playoffs if we had Marshawn Lynch. He's looking strong again tonight.

You do realize those are Carson's stats behind a worse version of this OL? He was productive on this team, this year.

Excited to get him back!

Could be just the spark the team needs if they get into the playoffs.
