Who's that Danny Kanell guy? Liked what he had to say. Was very knowledgeable and was able to articulate his opinions very well.
I watched this segment and admit I watch this everyday. He's been on before and is a big RW supporter. On one show last week, he said he would choose RW over Kap becuase of his skill set, maturity and character. Thought Kap is still a little immature as far as how he behaves. Anyhow, he was beginning to make a point he didn't get to finish that he brought up last week as well about how Kap got the starting job handed to him and RW EARNED his job. Something alot of pundits seem to have forgotten.

For as much as I hate Bayless, he makes some good points.

1. Brutal division
2. Arizona is going to be better than everyone thinks
3. Can we rely on defensive turnovers?

Bottom line for me is the Hawks on paper are one of the top 3-4 teams in the league, but we play in a division where all four teams have the ability to beat the holy crap out of each other. Which means 3-4 divisional games could come down to a field goal. If 2-3 of these games don't go our way, we could be in trouble.

Add to that list arguably the toughest schedule of anybody......

For now though, we just don't know.... I will wait til after week 2 before making any real assessment.... If we start 0-2 though, will start on a heart burn medication regimen for sure....

Do you think he will say something positive about our boys one day?
Does he really believe the nonsense he says?
Does he dream of Russell Wilson?
Can he beat a baby seal in a fight? :sarcasm_off:

Could care less, but its Seahawks related so you here u go.

Edit: Had to add the :sarcasm_off: emoticon so some of you could see that questions asked above were purely satrical jabs at all the "x person hates the hawks" threads that have been pooping up as of late.

I've read "all" the comments here and in direct response to your post as above; answers: 1. No , 2. doubtful b/c he loves him some me 3. dubious as well b/c he's a putz.

No need to get upset my brother, I got your point. Still think however that Bayless is best skipped entirely or intentionally ignored.

Why any of us would want read or listen to his garbage escapes me. Time is better spent doing just about anything else.

Skip's going to hate us for a long time, even though he doesn't actually hate us at all.

Bailess hated the Seahawks before he loved them before he hated them again. His opinions aren't based on rationalizations, he is nothing but a pure contrarian who likes to get attention by going against the grain, which typically means holding a really dumb opinion most of the time. If anything is hyped, he rarely misses a chance to resist it. So long as the Seahawks are hyped, Bailess will be saying "not so fast." The hype for this team won't be going away any time soon, so get used to Bailess doubting our team.

It's really just that simple. You'll notice there is no substance to his rebuttals, he's just playing lawyer to justify his positions.
You have a point about going against the grain however he does not do that when it is teams he likes. The 49ers are over hyped and he is on that train and not a contrarian when it comes to them.

Was Bayless ever even "adequate" at life? doubtful.....

Bayless was actually a very credible well thought of sports writer in the 80's and 90's. He even won a bunch of journalist awards and wrote a couple critically acclaimed books.

It wasn't until he started doing TV and crawled so far up his own ass that he could no longer see the sunlight that he became the hacky joke that is is now.

Thanks for the clarification.... I always thought he was just trying to be the Howard Stern of sports talk somehow.... and failed miserably.

You sir hit the nail on the head. As stated in my OP, I could care less what he thinks. I think the quote in your SIG sums it up rather well.

I disagree, Kearly. You say there is no substance to my rebuttals, but Kaepernick is like 6’4”? There's nothing simple about my resistance to Seattle as a football team. I just really expect Russell to have a sophomore slump because Drew Brees is closer to 6'1" when you stand next to him.

Look, I may change my mind on this, but I am starting to come around on the 'Hawks after their game against the Broncos. Their defense really scores a lot of points, just like they did last year, but I thought Peyton would have protected the ball better, and Demaryius Thomas, goal line fumble, then Brandon Browner woosh. I will say though that I don’t know if the defense can keep it up this year because they’re not going to surprise anyone and their receivers are just average.

Seattle has to watch out for the Cardinals. No one is talking about them and Tyrann Mathieu. They’ll surprise people. Did you see what Bruce Arians did when he was with the Steelers a few years ago?

Don’t get me wrong, and I hate to say this, but I believe Seattle will still get the Wild Card . – @RealSkipBayless out

Sure does seem like we can rely on the defensive turnovers Quinn seems to have really focused on that technique wise. So far they are playing very similar to what Chicago did for years under Lovie Smith.

All good and valid points..... Sgt. your reservations are warranted, and I think we would all agree that we can't really hang our hat on turnovers, defensive points, etc..... At the end of the day though, if it works out like that for a season, then great...... If not, really, a wild card is still a playoff spot, right?

This is pretty close to what I think. All in all, Bayless is a deliberate provocateur, so when he falls back into being "reasonable" it's almost impossible to hear him make a fair point, which in this conversation he manages to do once or twice. I still can't stand the guy, but I don't mind if he says he prefers Kaepernick over Wilson. They're different types of QB, and he puts a higher score on raw athleticism than the cerebral part of Wilson's game...which is fine. He should just try saying it that way.

As for the broader conversation, the point that the NFC West is going to be brutal this year is spot on. If at all possible, we have to win at home because our divisional games on the road will likely be blood baths.

I don't mind being contrarian; I'm like that myself. When an idea pops up, my natural impulse is to look for holes in it. Everyone's got their role in a discussion; that's mine.

BUT...you have to be self-aware about it. You have to be prepared for the possibility that much of what you test will turn out to be true. Contrarians are easy to spot, and no matter how good you are at it, you'll get lambasted pretty quick if it becomes obvious that you just want attention.

The smart version of a contrarian is a "devil's advocate". I don't think Skip has reached that stage. He's still in his larval form.

I don't think your religion allows "devil's advocacy", my friend. You'd better just skip that part and affect a British accent. It works for English, you know.
