A 3 score lead makes this completely irrelevant. A 2 pt lead makes this really important. Start fast, keep stacking plays and don't look back.
Exactly.

A Fast start is what we really need.

Hawks need to score first (a touchdown preferably) to put the Pats on their heels and Drake MEH having to face this hungry defense looking to bounceback from giving up over 400 yards of offense last week.

That's just called taking advantage of a stupid rule the league implemented. The play clock should stop as soon as the defense subs and the ref stands over the ball, and then resume when the ref moves.

Isn't 15 seconds a little late to be making a substitution on offence? Avoid that and avoid the tactic. Even better strategy, get the lead and keep the lead.
Here's a fun thought. Belichick still has bad blood with Kraft so he calls up MacDonald and gives him tips and help.
If the offense changes the defense gets a right to change

The solution is Denver should not have changed out any personnel

Frankly I think any Patriot game, especially post season, should just be treated like they could cheat and the league should take extra precautions since, ya know, Josh McDaniels was also accused of cheating in Oakland, allegedly.

Kind of what I was getting at. To avoid having that time clock issues, don't sub or do it early so even if the other team does shenanigans, you still have plenty of time

I see this much like snapping the ball early to catch the defense with 12 men on the field. It's part of the game, as is trying to get the defense to jump offside. I'm not a fan but changing the rules over this would be an over-reaction.
Refs need to be fairer to offenses though regarding how long they stand over the ball. You can’t let defenses walk off the field. If they are too slow and you’ve given them reasonable time to substitute then that’s not your problem as the ref

Maybe the refs need to be fairer to defenses. I don't see refs running to re-spot the ball in the 1st quarter. Why do that to help whoever is on offense late in the 4th quarter? Why stop the clock for tv to review something trivial - effectively giving the offense another time-out? The bottom line is the rules are the rules and they're officiated by fallible human beings who have to make judgements.

Not sure I agree with this sentiment. Why should the defense be allowed any time to rest between plays? It’s up to the offense to dictate the speed they want to run their plays. Fact is there is less urgency from the offense earlier in the games which is reflected in the referee operations. Nothing problematic in that.
The substitution element however is up to the officials to prevent the offense having an unfair advantage. A defense should be allowed time to substitute. That is the right thing (we can all agree). However, that should not enable defenses to essentially force an offense to have to snap the ball with a couple of seconds left on the play clock by slow playing getting off the field to deliberately force this situation. You’ve not only negated the advantage the offense has by substituting but now created an advantage for the defense. This is what the Pats and others are doing and needs to be eliminated by referees. The back judge should vacate the ball not when the defense has fully completed their substitutions but when they have reasonably had enough time to complete them.

Not sure how this is a controversial take.

If any of you Patriot haters think for one second that everyone in the NFL isn't trying to gain a competitive advantage or manipulate the rules to their favor, I have some bad news for you.

If you're not cheating, you're not trying.

It's just the way it is. From warfare to competitive sports to doing your taxes.
It’s not cheating if you don’t get caught

So cheating is cool. Got it
Negative. Cheating, if you choose to call it that, is simply a fact of life when it comes to many things. The pearl clutching here, and everywhere, over the Patriots is comical when nobody bats an eye about doing 85-90 on the freeway or fudging their taxes to keep more of their own money in their pocket.

Selective moral outrage is an ugly double standard.

I do, I love seeing those idiots on the side of the road after spinning out in the rain, pissed at them for causing back ups due to accidents, feel they should never have a license again for injuring people due to recklessness.

As far as Taxes, go ahead screw up and get caught, we screwed up on accident and it cost us a bundle when we got audited.

Bet your outrage would change if it was your house getting broken into. What a dumb post.
