Well, the "didn't execute" is going hand in hand with what a lot of TV and radio analysts are saying about Russell Wilson, which is that he hasn't played well the last 3 games and he's missing reads and open WRs. We need a good game to break the slide we're going into.
I didn't watch the All 22, but there are a couple of larger factors to look at. You have to have a good game plan as well as good execution on defense to completely shut a team down like the Cards did. Then, you get the offensive players that can't break the defenses momentum...either they're pushing too hard or the pressure gets to them and they start to miss things.
I understand that Wilson missed a few reads (maybe quite a few) and that he chose routes/reads that played to the defenses strengths at times, but the correct defense was called more often than not to defeat a lot of our plays. What really bothers me (and shows that Bevell really is getting predictable) is that Ray Horton isn't the defensive coordinator for the Cardinals anymore..they have a new HC and DC, so a lot of the familiarity aspect wasn't there. The new guy (don't know his name) only needed one game against us to produce a perfect game plan.
The other thing that really bothers me is that we didn't call many screens at all this game. What kills me is that the Cards were bringing at least 4 guys all night and many times more than that. They ran a single high safety and bring a lot of A gap pressure with one of the LBers. Screens would murder this look, as you're playing single man against the WR's. Getting a guy in space, with equal blockers is usually a very good thing, but we didn't even attempt it.
I don't know if we're saving all of our wrinkles for the playoffs or what, but we need to get some positive momentum going, or this is going to be one of the most epic chokes in recent history.
