Interesting, but to the point about making large assumptions, if anything, Pete has shown a propensity to 'grind out' the win when victory is in doubt rather than get overly complex. We saw it early last season when he felt as though RW might be the limiting factor. Not saying i'm right, just don't think its a stretch to think that our own psyche, confidence, body clock, timing... whatever you wanna call it, would be the limiting factor this year or, any year when we have to go in the road at 10am.

Its funny you used the Bears game because that's the example i was going to use to make my argument. We did very little that game save for a TD in the 2nd qtr that was set up by a long pass play to Tate. We added a FG to close out the half but the approach was pretty conservative. the execution was better than what we saw yesterday, but I dont think we deviated from the 'slow and easy' script until late in the 4th when we scored again to take the lead (17-14) and then again when we drove the length of the field in OT for the win. before those 2 drives we were pretty vanilla. We looked better, but it wasnt what we got used to seeing toward the end of the season. And in that game, it was at RW's urging that we went to the read option and really buried the Bears. It wasnt Bevell or Pete who thought it up.

Who knows what the deal was? I sure dont. But I'm hoping like hell that whatever it was will go away before kickoff on Sunday... and i think it will.

Orlando, FL...for good.
You hold back some key plays to pull out as surprises later in the season or in the postseason. You don't have an entire offense be conservative for that purpose.

Keasley45's completely correct, in my opinion. It looked inferior because we executed for garbage.

I'm really starting to think Bevell-Cable limited their playcalling yesterday. The Panthers came hard, and often, in a manner which would've been so easy to exploit.

I know that sounds odd, since it seemed like it could've been a loss, but Pete does things like that.

1) Pete SLOWLY added things to Russell Wilson's playbook last year. The easy play, for most, would've been going with Flynn. It would've shielded Pete from any criticism early on, really. But, with the playoffs in mind, an up to speed Wilson was the best long-term choice.

2) Against NE last year, Marshaun Lynch split reps with Turbin, ALOT. At the time I remember thinking; I bet he's saving him for their next game, on a short week, at SF.

3) Hosting SF last year, it sure looked like Wilson had some instructions to "wear out" the 49ers defense as much as possible. Yeah, that's what Wilson does, but he ran in his own backfield more than any other game. Makes sense...wear them out before their division clinching game the following week.

Am I nuts?
"Am I nuts?" Not a shred of doubt, but this time? you're spot on with this one :16:
