4 difficult decisions for this off season

1. Geno is not getting cut. He may get traded but he's too valuable an asset to be cut.

2. is easy. Lockett, sadly, is getting cut short of a major salary adjustment which I don't think is likely.

3 --- The draft is a crap shoot so who knows.

4 --- We only really have one FA who's essential to re-sign. Not a difficult decision.

Yes, unfortunately, age 32 is when a lot of wide receivers hit the wall. Look at two star receivers who are the same age as Tyler Lockett: DeAndre Hopkins and Devante Adams. They were just shadows of their former selves this year. Both 32 years old, like Tyler.

Still a good topic though. Doesn't matter what that site said about anything. The 4 decisions are legit issues.

1 They will probably keep Geno. Blah. I just hope they draft somebody to learn this year and start next year.

2 Love the guy, but I think Tyler is gone. I hope they hold a parade for him and put him in the ring of honor.

3 I hope they stay at 18 and If there isn't a starting guard or D lineman there, trade down for more picks to try to replace Tyler .

4 resign Jones

I can't imagine the hawks are going to roll with a $44-milliion cap hit for Geno. If he's here in 2025 it's because he's extended for another year that increases his guarantee over two years by a bit, but lowers his 2025 number. His market as a trade target has increased recently. It's kind of a matter of whether or not the Hawks are willing to have a Tarvaris-like season at QB.

I think Jaren Reed is another important decision.

I love Tyler Lockett. So much. But that's an easy one. He's not worth $30 million.

1) Something is going to happen with Geno's contract. Still 50/50 for me whether he is extended or traded. Can go either way honestly.

2) Cut Tyler. No brainer.

3) Tyler Booker or Donovan Jackson. It's that easy for me. Just get it done. Don't trade down. Pick one of those guys.

4) There is only 1 real priority F.A to re-sign. They need to get it done.

5) Another important issue. Do you cut Nwosu or restructure his contract to push money to next year?

Not sure how you can think his trade value has risen. His performance over any extended stretch has just gone downhill since the first half of 22. Still more garbage-time stat-padding than normal and 24 before a meaningless game against backups had a 17/15 ratio. It doesn't take much listening to Millen or honest game viewing to see how much he misses available plays and even gets lucky with dropped picks (I think someone who tracks TWPs is pretty bad at judging them too from some stats I've seen). As pretty as some plays can be, he's not remotely reliable enough in making positive plays regularly.

Nwosu is a tough one. He's probably a wait-and-see depending on Geno and Jarran and others.

I actually think it's a pretty easy choice. You restructure his base and convert to bonus.

You are going to have to eat $13m if you cut him while only saving $8.1m.

You covert $7m of his base this year and convert it to his bonus next season. He's only due $6.5m in 2026 in guarantee. With the converted money you'll be on the hook for $13m.

Either way you eat $13m but you get to keep Nwosu for an extra year. You cut him in 2026.
