We don't know that it was prevent. With all the injuries, this is a good time for Pete and Ken to see what they have in the defensive backfield and see how they tackle. Tackling has been problematic lately, they need the practice.

And now we have a new Center, so practicing those short yardage runs, which seems to be a weakness all of a sudden, is a good thing.

It's actually a valid point. When you have a big lead is when you take some chances to let young/new guys get some game reps. I'll be interested to see the snap counts when they come out.

I take it you didn't notice that we played five or more yards off every single receiver on basically every down for the last couple Falcons drives?

They definitely weren't in prevent. They spent the majority of the second in cover 2, and the Falcons attacked the space between the linebackers and safeties.

It's a fair point though, they need to see what other guys can do.

This thread is hilarious. The reason it became competitive was because they threw out back ups. Ivotuk, you somehow were a mod.

Yeah it was not backups, the reason it got close is because, we made no adjustments and we took our foot off the gas

They played a deep zone with back ups in positions, might as well been a prevent.

That explains the defense but not why we took the pedal off on offense and made no adjustments.

Limited possessions in the second half since the Falcons were on the field, conservative first play calls, and a penalty shut down drives.

Playing it safe in other words no turnovers and try to eat clock mentality except we didn't move the ball to eat the clock and gave it back to them to make a comeback.

So you think the team needed to make adjustments after shellacking the Falcons in every phase of the game in the 1st half? The score was 24-0 @ half time. What adjustments should the team have made? At that stage they were on pace to lay a 48-0 pasting on the Falcons.

No doubt about it the team was outplayed in the 2nd half. Was that b/c of half time adjustments to the D, or O, or what? Somehow the team lost it's intensity. They almost blew it. Atlanta found weakness in our D, their coverage and exploited the living heck out of Akeem King with Julio. The failure was in failing to adjust the coverages that were being exploited. Is that on Pete or on Norton,or on both?

John, it is possible to make your points without resorting to unnecessary Ad Hominem argument. Please cease doing so going forward. You have loads of football knowledge and make good points regularly in discussion here, I'm sure you can see it not necessary to throw rocks in replies. That kind of response derails threads and creates pissy replies.

Great comeback effort and it did feel like they got a little lazy in the 2nd half. Teams do it all the time, makes no sense but it happens. He made some decent points, no need to bash the guy. Atlanta came out and made some solid adjustments. We're sitting at 6-2 with a lot of work to do. It IS ok to enjoy a win, even if it really should have been a blowout.
