I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to motivate fans around you to stand and yell, just make sure you do it in a fun and spirited way.
Near us at the game was a couple who I hadn't seen in our section before so they probably dont regularly come to games. they were cheering and clapping but not with the 'zeal' that most of us hard core 12s do. That's fine by me, the probably paid an obscene amount of money for their tickets so as long as they are making some noise, no big deal. I wasn't sitting right next to them, and if I were I probably would have tried to get them riled up more in a friendly way, giving high fives and motivating them to stand up, etc.
But there was some guy who was constantly coming up behind them and yelling at them to stand up and yell. Obviously several beers in, it wasn't a friendly fan to fan thing. In the end he was so focused on harassing them to stand up and yell that he wasn't even participating in cheering and watching the game anymore, and these people were obviously uncomfortable.
Long story short, nothing wrong with motivating people around you to get into it, but it's not gonna happen by being a jerkoff.
