Absolutely!!

If they're agreeable to trading away Waddle, they should be open to potentially trading Achane.

EDIT: On second thought, he'd be a one-year rental that would likely command >$15M/year to extend past 2026. I seriously doubt that we could afford that, given our young studs that need to be extended as well. Oh well, nice thought.

They traded the 30th pick and a pick near the end of the third, and got Waddle and are moving up 20 spots in the fourth round. That's excellent value for a great receiver in his prime on a decent contract.

Waddle's stats have been down the last couple of years. I'm not sure he's worth $28 million per year. He hasn't had 1000 yards receiving since 2023. I think the Dolphins made out in the trade. I feel like a first and a third should have gotten you a better player. (The teams exchanged 4th round picks.)

Waddle is due $17.24M in 2026, $24M in 2027, and $27.37M in 2028. The 1st 2 years are effectively guaranteed. Waddle might want a contract renegotiation. WRs do not have a high trade value.

The Dolphins currently have $115M in dead money for 2026 and are 8M over the cap.
There are only 3 players presently on the team that were Dolphins in 2023.

Tanking for Arch.
The March for Arch. So far it looks like the Dolphins and the Cardinals are all-in on the tanking. Many people think the Jets are as well, but their free agent signings so far would suggest otherwise.

You think the team that traded for Geno is serious about winning? The only way they could make it less obvious that they're not would be signing Russ.

I think that they are serious about trying to win. I was going to add that they will most likely be one of the bottom 3-5 teams anyway. The number of signings they've made and the dollars they've spent suggest that they're trying. I think Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey want to win 6-7 games to save their jobs. Whether they're going about it in the right way is another matter.

Aaron Glenn can want whatever he wants. But if the owner is playing to get a top pick, it doesn’t matter what Glenn does.
