I agree. I like him but can't get behind him as our pick at 18. Starks yes, Emmanwori no. We do need a safety but I'm out on Emmanwori
If we pick him though it's because they have a plan and think he would elevate this defense.
That kind of athleticism at that size is really rare. They brought him in probably to get an idea of what he is about so if we were to pick him it means they are confident about him.

Emmanwori would be so disappointing, especially at 18. I don't think he's even a first rounder.
He would be the front runner if Pete was still running the show. No doubt about it. "Build from the outside in."

We will pick the most non-Pete or un-Pete player at #18. John is his own man these days, face of the franchise and all of that.

Most likely event is we trade down at 18 to acquire more picks. Textbook JS.
Very possible. There is no way the Giants take a QB at 3 overall, but the latest rumor is that they try trading back into the first round for a QB. With Pittsburgh possibly eyeing a QB at 21, Seattle at 18 would be the perfect trade partner.

I do understand that line of thinking; Emmanwori does have an enticing physical profile and skill set and I certainly wouldnt fault the front office if they were tempted.

The difference to me though, is that this wouldn't be a case of hoping to max out an ultra-raw prospect who has shown inconsistent flashes. We would be trying to change his instincts and make him something he isn't. There are places in the draft where I think that kind of thing can be a worthy gamble, but it's too much risk for me in the first round.

A player that makes all of us, the armchair GMs, say, "Why didn't we think of him?"

As long as it's not some "project" type talent that was projected as a late 2nd or 3rd rounder.........I'll be fine.

I'm guessing Zabel but if Banks is still on the board (doubtful) it will be Banks. OL for sure.

I've gotten a wild feeling today that it's going to be Starks, just because everyone thinks we're set at safety and thus Starks would be the pick most calculated to enrage everyone for 24 hours until they get a chance to see the scouting reports.

Coming to this thread, I see I'm not the only one.

I doubt John and Mike go Emmanwori with the character concerns on him.
