Jerry Jones is laughing hysterically right now. This is just Dre' mont Jones jr.

Just look at the math, his last 3 seasons have been progressively worse. There is no way he wasn't considering retiring.

Then JS gets on the phone and says to him "Yo, you want a free 18 million"?

If you ever wonder was it JS or MM who made the call....it's always JS. Don't romanticize it! Sure everyone will be in the meeting but every choice is 100% determined by JS . When was the last time the front office said "We were overridden by the coach on that transaction"?

If Lawrence can come in here and provide a veteran presence along side Reed, Williams and Jones, plus help some of the youngsters, particularly Murphy, Mafe and Hall, on how to fight with their hands and set the point of attack, I have zero issues with this signing.

As far as his ability to produce, I believe expectations should be tempered. He’s not going to produce double digit sacks as an edge rusher. The team brought him in to help set the edge and generate some semblance of a pass rush which our team has been very inconsistent in doing the past few years.

Lawrence comes to the Hawks which is a team that has a plethora of pass rushers already so I think Lawrence is a net positive.

I don't get it. 32 and running out of gas. Avg 4.5 sacks over the last 6 seasons. He'll be retired soon. I'm OK with it if it's a low cost 1-2 year deal. Otherwise, ewwww.
demarcus did havee 3 sacks before geeting hurt in week 5. Infact Pr0 Football Focus has him rated 9l the last 2 seasons a top 10 de. he sets the edge really well and has been good against the run, even though his sack numbers have declined. this a big upgrade from dreamont who was a no show in many games.

No doubt he's a big upgrade over Dre (whose signing I completely hated, compared to my ambivalence about this one). Of course, that assumes he's still got at least 2 decent years left in the "Tank". These older vet signings made by JS have almost always failed to provide value. I hope this one works out better.

Lawrence is, by nature, a very competitive dude who has been an elite talent. If he has only 75% of his former elite talent level he will will be a great addition to our rotation. I tend to think the change of scenery will stoke his fire, especially playing with guys like Leonard, Reed, Mafe, Hall, etc. And if we are somehow able to retain Nwosu we will be top shelf clear across the board.

Hey, speaking of Demarcus...Does anyone remember when the Hawks drafted Demarcus Christmas? I totally had multiple "Christmas" quips at the ready in case he broke out...but he never did :(

There was a video going around where the Cowboys were on defense with the opposing team had the ball inside the 5 yard line. Lawrence beat a double team blasted the FB/TE and tackled the RB for a loss, I was thinking “ Yeah that was impressive “

IMO Lawrence will be the steal of free agency
