I have no opinion about this really but I thought we were trying to get younger or was that just a mistaken vibe?

Assuming we didn’t pay a premium he could be a solid rotational guy for us
This is how I look at it. Basically, the contract is structured in what could just be a 1 yr deal if he doesn’t play well. But if he can be in a rotation (remember, Dre’mont Jones was cut) he should be decent.

Already seeing articles about us not addressing the OLine and our window passing us by. Is there really a ban on 5 year contracts? With these last two signings I have to say, 30something FA's with little left in the tank are not the ticket. The Seahawks have a history of signing over priced washed FA's who stunk. If we are just bringing in bodies to fill out the roster, I'd rather wait for day 3 of the draft & preseason cutdowns.
But you know how GMs are, always swinging for the fences hoping for a little luck to get to a SB.

Free agent signings are not generally where you get younger. The draft is where you get younger.
We are already one of the youngest teams in the league. Having some veteran signings is fine folks. Every team has them and needs them.

How I picture some fans when they don’t like how THE FIRST DAY of free agency is going.

You can say the same thing about the fans that can't handle the fans that don't like something the team does. It gets unbearable around here. 3/4 of the posts are people whining about how other people think.

Well if people would just think correctly, there would be no need to whine about them ;)

Love Lawrence’s game even if he lost a little juice but I’ll believe that Parsons being lightning in a bottle had a lot to do with his numbers going down not just DL aging with decline.

Lawrence is just a no nonsense defender and leader that leaves everything out on field, he isn’t just about padding stats but does the dirty work that allows his teammates to feast. I don’t even think his game is being a guy who is trying to get sacks but can rack them up regardless out of sheer will. He’s more of a passing lane disrupter that can be a bully in the run game and be a TFL generator. He’s basically a guy that can play a Clowney-lite role in Mac’s defense. He’s basically a tougher, stronger Dre Jones with better run defense. He’s basically the anti-Darrell Taylor.

If the Seahawks are counting on him being a foundational piece the contract is underwhelming but if he is a expensive rotational player that puts him in position to wreak havoc in roles that play to his strengths with lower risks of overuse, I can see why that makes sense.

The fact the Durde is familiar with Lawrence is a plus and MacDonald has shown a pedigree to get the most out veteran players like Lawrence. So it kind of being a multi-year deal makes me believe Mac signed off on this as a player he can jive with and help get the best out of Lawrence abilities.

Could but not likely also mean perhaps a bigger move is coming like sending a couple picks and Mafe and Nwosu to the Bengals to get Trey Hendrickson considering they were willing to try to get Crosby. Lawrence is a player that complements Hendrickson very well.

No, that was a really poor guess by Corbin Smith. He's really lost his reporting edge since he got fired from SI, and doesn't have the same access inside the building.

Just filling out the roster with a solid rotational player at a reasonable price so you don't have too many holes to plug at draft time (not far away). Fine with it.
