*Update* - Jones has been signed.

I was watching Murphy (91) at Seahawks rookie minichamp doing dline drills when I noticed the guy next to him (95). His massive thighs is what got my attention. That young man is Buddha Jones, DT out of Troy. There's not much film out there of him, but the film I did watch, this guy is a brick wall of muscle. Def a Longshot to make the team, but could be a good rotational piece to add for depth.

Anyone know anything more on this guy? He wears #'s 4 and 52 in the video below. Most of his snaps were at DT but does play a lot of NT as well. Could be a solid replacement for Bryan Mone and a nice rotational piece for Hankins.

6'-1" tall. Short Arms 29 1/2 arm length. Wing span only 74 5/8. Much lighter than Mone. But much quicker change of direction. He bench pressed 225lbs for 35 reps at pro-day.

Great feet, but nothing much in terms of hands. Just saw him stack and shed over and over. Not bad against the run, but no rush moves to speak of.

NFL OL aren't going to let him get into their chestplate like that.

Certainly looks the part, but so did Robert Turbin who amounted to very limited success.

“When you watched the film, I go, ‘How do I describe this guy?'” Bumpus said. “He’s like the (ocean) current. He is like the motion in the ocean. He is moving massive men left and right when you watch this guy play. They might have found something in this dude right here. If there’s a guy that you want to root for during this preseason that no one really knows about, take a look at this guy.” -- Michael Bumpus

That analogy triggered a flash back memory of getting caught in an outgoing tidal current ... off the point ... of the airport runway in American Samoa ... for some 20 minutes.* I scored by getting back onto the beach alive with snorkel and fins and mask and speargun and trunks. Victory!
