If and when Dan is shown the door, who should his replacement be? Who are actual, realistic candidates?

I don't think management cares enough to do it. They might do it after this year but I would be surprised if they did it now. I'm still baffled that in a billion dollar business teams hire feel good stories and guys with zero experience at managing at any level. Its bizarre.

Well said. Typical Mariners Ownership. Get a yes man who is tied to 1995. Insert massive eye roll.

Jerry hired Dan out of desperation to please the fans. He purposely brought someone we would all approve of immediately because of the history. Jerry built his whole kingdom around Scott Servais and then when he fired him he should have been close behind. Like when a coach and a qb are tied together. Jerry had some good players on the team that he was responsible for and that probably salvaged his job, but now what’s his answer

May be too old but Bruce Bochy? Left the Rangers after he won the world series but surely can manage a bull pen better.

Bob Melvin got the A's to a few play offs with no budget, so i'm sure ownership would love him. Decent track record (the Giants are a dumpster fire right now), has Seattle ties having managed there before..

The most disappointing and frustrating thing about the decision to hire Wilson as full time manager (not interim), is that the Mariners didn't even bother going through any kind of process to attempt to find an experienced major league manager with a track record of success at the MLB level. They just went with the feel good story and called it a day.

I am suprised at what a poor manager Dan has been. You would think that someone with his years of experience, especially as a catcher, would have been better prepared. The results dont lie though. He shit the bed bigtime in the playoffs. I don't know whats going on this year though, they always seem to underperform to start the season. I used to think the Kingdome was cursed. Can't blame it on that anymore.

Honestly its how little league teams hire. How this is a real thing at this level with this much money involved is almost beyond belief.

I would take Alex Cora in a heart beat. I know he was part of the cheating scandal, but I also know he has a ring and can manage a team to the WS.
I need the Mariners to win a WS ASAP!

Nothing will change at least not until the off-season.
It's not a serious franchise.

Why would anyone want to manage the M's just to be GM's whipping boy. Is Lou P still around?

Lou's doing Shag housing commercials these days, but even if he was still managing, he would never in a million years agree to manage a team the way Dipoto wants his team managed with all the "handedness" platoon nonsense and revolving door of terrible free agent signings every off season.

It will be a Jerry guy that knows they have to say yes to whatever Jerry says. It won't be an actual manager. Probably just a puppet from within the organization Jerry knows won't say No to him.
