Eff my life.I could be wrong, but I don't think the Nordstrom family was required to sell to Ken Behring, just because he was the highest bidder. There were approximately 30 prospective bidders, and they selected him. The Nordstroms were adamant in saying that they got the right guy, which wound up being the most infamous soundbite in franchise history.
Actually, that was a blessing in disguise as it led directly to us getting Paul Allen as our owner. Allen had to be talked into buying the Hawks by the governor of WA.Eff my life.
I could have gone to my grave a happy man had I not been reminded (about Ken Behring).
Curse you!
Jk
Ken Behring was a tight wad and couldn't stay away from the draft board. He was clearly in over his head. I still remember Chris Warren and the offense practicing in LA back when he told everyone he was moving the team. I'm just glad he decided to liquidate to the Allen siblings. At the end of the day new owner needs two qualities.... An endless supply of cash money and the ability to allow our staff to their jobs without interferenceActually, that was a blessing in disguise as it led directly to us getting Paul Allen as our owner. Yep. He insisted that we draft Dan McGuire in the first round way ahead of where he was projected to go and over the objections of HC Chuck Knox simply because he was enamored with McGuire when he played at SDSU.Ken Behring was a tight wad and couldn't stay away from the draft board. Exactly. After that decision it wasn't hard to understand the regression since the Knox erae insisted that we draft Dan McGuire
No candidate is without a few skeletons in their closet.Culturally, I can't think of any candidates that approach what fans have enjoyed watching grow during the Allen era.
