Oh, it's not remotely random. It's the most predictable thing in baseball. If an opposing team puts in a LHP, the M's will take Raley and Canzone out of the game. It makes the opposing managers job so much easier when they know for an absolute certainty exactly how the M's will respond to a pitching change.
