So much for running it back.

Every time another team signs one of our SB champion players, John has more $ to sign or draft a cheaper player eager to play for a top notch franchise in front of the 12's and compete for a SB. I am more concerned about keeping this defense together than losing K9 or Shaheed. Josh Jones would be a nice keep.

I'm not going to freak out over the team being financially responsible or over paying. Let's see how the squad looks comes July. JS did a good job picking up free agents last summer on good deals, could do that again.

This time last year JS got slaughtered by many for trading geno and DK and people freaking out about who our qb would be.

Let’s hope the FAs are more like 2025 year than 2024. Shenault, Baker, Dodson, and Jenkins were not up to par.

With all these free agents leaving, this will NOT be anything near the team that just won the Super Bowl. Just sayin’.
If you remember we lost a bunch of guys after SB48 and we were within 1 yard and a lapse in judgement from going back to back. I appreciate everyone's contribution to the latest championship, but either get on board or get the F out of the way! This train is headed to LA for SB61. 200

Every year, every team has to be re-imagined, re-constituted and re-made. That's what makes the NFL the most competitive and difficult professional sports league.
While I don’t like the guy this is exactly what Belichick was good at. When most win a SB they harden in their current system and try to repeat it. Nearly for the rest of their careers. And lose because the league changes. I am good with change and flexibility.

There are certainly some guys I'm hoping to keep, but I don't think anyone we could lose is absolutely vital. My bigger concern with the likelihood of "running it back" is sustaining our incredible injury luck, particularly after playing a 20 game season.

Gotta' be fairly lucky with injuries to win a ring, much of the time. We def. were overall pretty good last year on that front. If anything, we saw the media try hard to make more out of nothing when a guy had a tweak. Look at the Emmanwori thing. My god, they acted like he wouldn't play a down. Or the Zabel thing, he was fine.
Then again, it's March 5th, and posting "so much for running it back" is next level overreacting.

Great. We get to “run it back” with a (slightly) different team.

No one* was looking at our team in March of 2025, and predicting that we were going to finish the season by hoisting the Lombardi with a bunch of “irreplaceable” players.

Let John cook.

What some may not realize is that NFL rosters change by roughly 30% every year.

It's just the heavy contact and resultant-injury nature of the sport... and how NFL post-rookie contracts are structured... lots of turnover.

"Running it back"
Very few teams would repeat by bringing back literally the same roster. Letting guys go and bringing in new guys is just part of the NFL. Every team has to do it, not just the super bowl winner. Part of roster construction is having a lot of quality guys on rookie deals. No way to keep them all.

It is unlikely that any of our FA will actually be worth what they get paid (from us or other teams). Some players are bad fits for the Hawks and simply didn't perform well (Shaheed) while Walker plays a position known to be terrible for 2nd contracts. Letting them go is better than paying them to stay.
