"The thought process that I heard from one source is that the Seahawks are not going to franchise tag him [duh]. But basically going to say, "Listen, we love you, but you should go out there and get paid. If someone is going to give you $12-$13M dollars, you should take it. But if you are down in the $10M dollar range, come back and talk to us. We will bring you back to that number.""

Agree it's an interesting topic, but anything based on fan discussion probably isn't worth much.
On the surface I would think an extra $1M wouldn't make much difference to a serious player but I could see it making an important difference to an agent.
From K9's perspective, he's the Super Bowl MVP and elite running backs should be paid more;i.e-numbers heading toward what elite receivers are getting. We're a running team primarily, and he complements Charb perfectly, meaning the Seahawks are the ones that shouldn't mind forking out the extra $1-2million.

Heard the chiefs and broncos are really interested in him. A lot of teams have cap space to burn this year so i'm starting to resign myself to losing most of our free agents. Shaheed for me would sting the most as we gave up picks for him.

We've been talking to a hell of a lot of db's at the combine too

Ironically, I don't think we'd be worried about either JSN or Rasheed if we had NOT won the Super Bowl. Probably the same for K9. Rasheed talked like he was in the happiest spot in the world when he arrived in town. But part of that enthusiasm was based on the opportunity to get a ring. Now they all have their rings. I still think we keep Rasheed.

I personally don't buy into the "we're talking to a lot of DB's" as anything more than kicking tires. You can always look to add DB's for anything from starters to back of the rotation guys, like edges and O lineman you can never have enough and should always be looking. We are looking at all positions, this one just seems to get highlighted and brought to the forefront because of the timing. I don't buy anything into it though until certain players have signed somewhere else. At this stage it's a nothingburger until proven otherwise.

Brady Henderson suggested some teams may be put off by his lack of receptions and don't want to overpay for a gadget guy. This may mean he would possibly sign a 1 year deal to bet on himself. Who knows though, teams have cap to burn and many have receiver needs. He's also old for his first big contract so may want his bag.

Will be interesting to see. I don't think they sign an external free agent corner and spend too much in that area of the field. The drafts strength does seem to be secondary. I could see them sign a veteran pass rusher though if Mafe goes and Lawrence retires.

Stay in Seattle for a $2-3 mill less a year, but know you will split Carrie’s and play a few years longer. Or go get paid and get 350 Carrie’s a year and be done in 3 years?
Feel bad for Charbonnet in all this. That injury will cost him quite a bit of money and if Walker gets paid Charbonnet won't in a year or 2.

This all day. I imagine agents are trying to maximize contracts NOW… instead of thinking about a players health or potential earnings over an extended career.

There’s a lot to be said about splitting carries. I hope we always have a RB room that continues to allow us to follow this model.

I think the problem is that theres usually been a bit of a drop off to RB2 in a lot of occasions. I'd like to see it though, Walker was so fresh for the play off run.

K9 deserves to get paid. If he does leave, I hope Seattle grabs the Arkansas RB Mike Washington.

Okay. First of all…I should delete this after you all read it.

I wasn’t even supposed to know this. But my barber’s cousin’s sister’s brother-in-law’s nephew’s neighbor’s roommate’s fantasy football commissioner has a friend who was rumored to have once refilled the Gatorade cooler at a Seahawks preseason practice in 2017… and let’s just say… there are rumblings.

Now, am I saying something is happening with Walker?
No.

Am I saying something isn’t happening?
Also no.

What I am saying is that there may or may not be preliminary exploratory internal conceptual conversations about the possibility of potentially discussing something that could, in theory, relate to Walker.

It’s basically a done deal. Or completely nothing. One of the two.

But DO NOT let this leak outside the Seahawks Net forum. If this gets out, I will deny everything and claim I was hacked by a 49ers fan.
😜 ;)

We have a lot of great players - they ALL deserve to get paid. Frankly, I don't understand how any of them can get by on less than $10-50 million per year. Some of these guys are having to drive last year's model Maserati for Chrissake.

JS has done this in the past as a way to treat players right. I'm sure we can point to a couple situations that could have been handled better, but in general, this is why he got an A in recent nflpa grades. I think a lot of us would have predicted this scenario was/is likely.

Let K9 know how much he's valued but the team has restrictions on every position. Encourage him to go tour and negotiate and we'll be here waiting with open door (within our restrictions) if you find that the grass isn't greener.

He's not getting 100% of the carries no matter where he goes. Most likely, any team looking to sign him is going to use him similarly to the way he was used here.

Why would you hope he doesn't take a discount? I want him to take whatever he wants to take from what he can get, but if that is a discount to come back here better yet.
He shouldn't take a discount, especially given how rarely RBs get third contracts worth much of anything. These guys bust their asses, beat their bodies to hell, and put their long-term health at serious risk to entertain fans that will turn on them at a moment's notice, and on teams that will discard them the second theyre no longer useful. He has his post-football career to think about, and I want him to get everything he can now. Loyalty in football is for suckers.
