Those who hate analytics aren’t going to be happy with the Fleury and Orr hires.
At this point, how can any of us doubt what Coach Mike is doing or has done. We just won the freaking SB. I trust Coach Mike
Not to glaze you…but if you’re feeling this, I damn sure am too.It makes perfect sense. In Peetz we have a guy who knows our passing game, likely having helped Kubiak to expand his passing game knowledge and game plan week to week. We have a guy in house (Peetz) who came from the McVay / Shan tree and knows how the air game operates. What we didnt have was a guy with direct ties to the root scheme from a run perspective. Fleury is that guy. He knows the TE game which i think will be absolutley key to our offense movjng forward- Peetz left the Rams before it rose to prominance under McVay. Fleury also has a base in defense.
This all smells to me like a move that further expands our own personal brand of Shan/McVay ball emphasizing the run gane and TEs, gets us a guy who had immediate credibility given who he worked for and the personality he seems to have, AND if it all works and next year and he become the next hot HC name, Peetz will have had another yeat to fully emerse himself in the system and is in line to be our next OC.
Seems like, as on defense, we have set ourselves up for the next cycle of hires if we are successful and teams want to poach from us again. Orr is an ideal replacement for Durdy if he gets a gig next year.
Agree, and pretty sure JS has his paw prints all over this as well. Not to glaze you…but if you’re feeling this, I damn sure am too.
Damn our coach is a bad-ass
The only caveat is that he hasnt called plays. But its not like they had a bunch of great options of guys who had. Art Smith is ok, buy a known commodity who brings as much baggage as he does promise. Not to glaze you…but if you’re feeling this, I damn sure am too.

100%. It all probably came to him wednesday in a moment when he glanced cross-eyed into his red Solo cup and saw all of the answers in the bubblesAgree, and pretty sure JS also has his paw prints all over this as well.
That was my biggest concern…not having previous experience calling plays. He has tons of experience on both sides of the ball other than that. The only caveat is that he hasnt called plays. Fleury HAD to impress in his interview and likely specifically gave them some comfort when answering questions about scheme or how he would build an attack and adjust to various defensive strategies in-game.
We wont know until the bullets start flying, but he had to be knowledgable enough for John and Mike to bring him in.
He also knows Sam...
This is a good insight
I’m not as much concerned because He comes from TE coach background, but per his bio, he’s never called plays before. That concerns me a LOT.
A good reason to be concerned. But, consider the other candidates (in-house) and consider how fast this happened.I’m not as much concerned because He comes from TE coach background, but per his bio, he’s never called plays before. That concerns me a LOT.
Just watched a couple of interviews with him.
My first impression (that doesn’t mean a gotdamn thing) is that he’s a smart cookie.
Kittle saying ‘sad’ makes me grin.
Man…we’re talking JS and MM here. There have been a lot of ‘firsts’ in recent years. We’re MMs first HC spot (and hopefully last). ADs first go at DC…albeit, a reduced version.
We saw what a proven OC (Kubiak) could do vs a first timer and guy way out of his league (Grubb).
But…my glass is half full again. I’ve never felt so confident in a coaching staff and FO.
If he impressed MM, then this man is the guy for the job.

Another underrated fact is that he was there when Eric Saubert was there. The relationship with Darnold makes sense. He may not have called plays before but hopefully he's picked up a thing or two observing how Shanahan does it.
Meh. That doesn't really deter me. CMac still had a solid season. And I think Seattle has a better OL and room of RB's. Plus, I don't put much stock into how Grant Cohn feels about this. MM will see to it that they run the ball at an appropriate percentage, and they do it effectively, or changes will be made.
9 is a letter? Noice! What’s there to learn as OC? Pass to JSN and hand it off to K9. You have two plays with 5 letters.
