With a meager 4 draft picks, JS will need to find some UDFA gems or sign several starting caliber FAs. He has an opportunity to pick up several comp picks (for next year) if the FA process falls right. He has cap to work with. He'll need to pick-and-choose who is worth the premium a Championship pay raise (expectation) brings. He'll also be weighing the return on potential trades vs the pipeline of young talent on the roster. It's a lot. ...and it's a different evaluation than he's had before. This off season will be really interesting and have an impact good or bad (I guess they all do...but this one obviously and forsee-ably) for the next 10 years.

I agree it need to be carefully managed but JS was in a similar position in 2014, we had a young SB winning team and were short of draft capital (no 3rd Rounder as we traded it for Harvin). What he did then was a lot of trading down to get more draft picks and I could see him doing that again.

Don't judge a 'deep threat' WR by stats. Without that threat you'd have something similar to the Patriots offense. If you can't run receivers deep the opponents can press close to the LOS and shut everything down. Horton might be able to do the job but he's still unproven at this point. Smith-Njigba and 4 possession receivers isn't going to cut it.

I'm actually starting to lean away from Rashid Shaheed being a likely re-sign. He got us two wins in the regular season, one of them through his ST role, so maybe. But I realized the other day that he's drawing 3 targets a game, less than half of what he got in NO. I don't know if SEA wants to shell out for that. Plus, Kubiak, the guy who's familiar with him, is leaving for Oakland. I mean, maybe. We've got the cap space and Kupp is old.

I do think we'll want a good splash in the secondary. But the mega contract coming for JSN is going to claim a lot in their thinking.

I believe that Shaheed's raw speed over the top helped to open up the run game though, we went from stacked boxes to being able to run pretty much at will - while I am sure he's not the only reason, our entire rushing attack improvement coincided EXACTLY with Shaheed joining the team (Arizona game) - we went from averaging c. 100 YPG in the first 8 games of season to c.140 the final 9 (and around 130 in playoffs). One player doesn't make all the difference but MacDonald and Kubiak both spoke about Shaheed helping to open things up so it's not negligible.

As a career 500-700 yards per season guy he shouldn't break the bank - I feel like $7-9 APY is not unreasonable for either party

Well put. I think the biggest beneficiaries of Shaheed’s presence were Kupp, Walker, and Barner.

We need a dog on that defensive edge. You got Leonard and Murphy eating up double teams and our edge guys still cant get to the QB consistently.

We need to get better in coverage at the corner position. Spoon is a hell of a football player, but his one weakness is man coverage. Put him at safety where he can use his athletesism to fly around and make plays.

Woolen is too much of a head case, and too inconsistent, time to move on from him. Rather see Jobe out there, he's struggles in coverage as well, but at least he's willing to make tackles.

So, a former triple crown winner and superbowl MVP, a guy with 7 1000 yard seasons, and the active receiving TDs leader.

Elite returners have notoriously short shelf lives. Really, it comes down to how much further we think he can develop as a wideout.

I was thinking of the Shaheed re-sign and how much it would take too. I didn't think of what we gave up draft wise. If he walks based on salary could we recoup some of that with a comp pick? Also if he comes back healthy can Horton fill that role cheaper.

Hard to keep 3 free agents in the secondary but keep 1 or 2 for sure. Woolen is probably going to be the most expensive to keep.
whatever you think of playing running backs, I feel like Walker is just too good and after this playoff run find a way to keep him.

I doubt they cut 3 of their secondary, but could see 2 leave. Bryant is most likely to warrant the salary the hawks won't be able to match. Woolen's street value may have taken a hit with his immaturity on display in the playoffs...so it will be interesting to see if MM/JS think he's salvageable. Jobe has the best chance to stick IMO. But WTF do I know?
