Nope. Not buying his "apology"
He nearly cost us a SB. He was warned by the refs to NOT taunt. He did it anyway. He is a selfish player. He needs to be gone. There is ZERO excuse for taunting. We would have had the ball again, up 11 and could have easily ran a 3 or 4 minutes off the clock. Basically game at that point. It's not hard. WALK AWAY. EXACTLY what I have been saying for years.

Yep, one brain fart could easily have changed the outcome of the game.

That wasn’t a lapse in coverage, it wasn’t not living up to physical abilities.

That was 100% a mental error based on his attitude and not playing for the team (his brothers).

The main similarity between this team and our 2013 team, is the fact that they are playing for each other, they are brothers all playing as one.
Woolen doesn’t fit in, he doesn’t fit in even if we see a couple guys defend him over the next few days.

He plays like cap half the season, then when he had a little success, he forgets what the word humble means.

Everybody else on this team has no problem being humble.

It didn't take long for Riq to learn how to be a top tier corner when he was a rookie. But he has provided us with multiple taunting penalties. He was sorry about each one. So, been there, done that. He's only sorry that people are upset about it.
I aint buying the apolgy routine. If we turn our head again it will signal that it was really all right and he'll do it again. That is what he has done before.
Hate to lose his physical qualities but I'm ready for us to get and train a new corner.

He has no choice but to own up if he wants a decent chance of staying on this team, or getting something serious elsewhere.

The important thing about the taunting call followed by Woolen giving up the TD is that the team did not melt down in response to it. For other teams, it could have been a turning point. Even on TV, they tried to suggest that the team was in conflict.

Instead, they pulled together and kept fighting, and didn't let the one call ruin their season.

The call was weak as the jaw jacking was going on all game long. Still though...he shouldn't have given the nfl a reason to throw a flag by standing there. We need Woolen to play and he will be a super bowl champion and gone to another team next year. More headache than hes worth.

Hopefully he will learn from this and just ******* stop it - he has so much God-given talent - a disciplined reek is a good thing for our team. If that isn't in the cards I hope he is one of those guys that has a ridiculously good Superbowl game (three picks and TD maybe) and then gets snapped up for HUGE $ by some other team and then underperforms for all eternity.

I'm fine with the apology, in part because he went to apologize to mcvay after the game - that wasn't just a tweet apology, it was an actual one. As far as letting him go after the season.....I wouldn't. People keep comparing him to DK, but I think the big difference between them is that when Riq's game was being criticized he listened and was coachable. We didn't see DK becoming more a more disciplined receiver, but we HAVE seen Riq actually improve his play.

It's not like we're not familiar with defensive backs who shoot their mouths off. I'm happy to give a young man who improves the team the benefit of the doubt.

I'm fine with players making mistakes. Just don't make them AGAIN and AGAIN. This was his 3RD taunting penalty this season.

A LOT of guys are going to have to get paid soon... I'll let JS cast final judgment this offseason.

Biggest thing…we 100% definitely need him in this next game.

Beyond that…we’ve got to put our trust in JS and MM. We don’t want to downgrade at the position. We don’t want to overpay…

I’m guessing that someone is going to offer Riq way more than we’ll pay. Riq is a guy that will follow the $$$. Team always overpay for CBs…I certainly don’t want to be one of them.

With that said, we have the BEST GM and HC in the league. Best believe we’re in good hands.

Agreed we need him for the SB. And it’s not about forgiving him or not, it’s about the culture. Clearly Macdonald and Schneider are building a certain culture. The 12 is 1 mindset. That’s part of why they got rid of DK and Geno.

One week removed from Macdonald praising the team’s poise in the face of all the Niners aggravating behavior and Woolen pulls this at that time? Also, says a lot that the Rams coaching staff knew they could possibly bait him into it, which they seemed to be doing, and then Woolen took the bait. He just couldn’t help himself. Me over We.

That’s why after the SB he will be gone.
