Yes or no only.

Please explain your reasoning

And for the sake of additional conversation.

For those that think we do make it, also expect to be playing the Texans
My bold prediction.

That team is almost a mirror image of the Seahawks.
Last night against the Steelers should have convinced many, but I’ve been saying it.
I see a lot of the Texans news and highlights.
The similarities are many.

If we make it, so should they, for the same reasons we do.
2 Old school Reasons

1) Running game
2) defense

Oh- and because Chicago will do what nobody is predicting this week- beat the rams

I no longer "worry" about those kinds of situations with this stout defense and "fashionably late" offense. We spot the 9ers 10 and then our defense adjusts and forces 4 straight punts or get a pick and we rattle off a quick 17. Main reason I'm so certain we're gonna win the trophy this year. Dead serious.
Beat me to the punch, but I feel this exact same way. We've seen games where the Seahawks have been down and it looks like a loss, suddenly to have our offense come back and get the win. Now if it's 0-28 I'll be a tad bit more concerned.

Bottom line is this: Seahawks have literally everything going for them to reach the SB. Home field advantage up to the SB, healthier team, well rested with a bye week, amazing defense and premier offensive weapons...

I would be SO DISAPPOINTED and upset if they somehow blew it.

And that begs the question

Who actually is the #1 defense, and what are the actual metrics?

Texans are claiming they are #1
Lots of metrics. Depends on which one you pick. They are right there close to the Seahawks but the Hawks have the edge IMO

I believe we make it because our Running Game is finally rollling.

Not to say I don't have confidence in our Passing game and Sam but our identity from the start of the season was supposed to be running the football and playing defense.

We were forced to pass the ball because the Running game was a work-in-progress and in the process, we saw Darnold unlock JSN.

What we saw in Week 18 is what the main plan was going into the season when Sam was signed as a Free Agent.

And I see more of the same in this game, the next, and the SB.

I said YES because luck will only get you just so far, it takes being GOOD to make it to the #1 seed, and being GOOD has a lot to do with creating LUCK, oh and, being HEALTHY kind of helps a bunch also.

I’ll add… the AFC Is a wet noodle for defenses making the Texans look more impressive than they are imo. I thought we’d struggle with all the talk around their defense…

But iron sharpens iron. NFC has the defensive juggernauts. The AFC Pool noodle stiffies.
They are better now than when we played them.
Again the similarities are striking.

My guts twist up if I think about them doing to Sam what they did to Rodgers.
Any D that puts that much pressure on Sam likely wins the game, no matter how well our D plays.

Then it's a good thing we have a running game unlike the Steelers to take pressure off of Darnold should that matchup happen.

Remember that while they are better now than when we played them, we are better now than when we played them.

Back then our running attack wasn't working well yet we got 118 total yards from K9/CHARBS.

Now it is vastly improved.

Bottom Line is that I'm not worried in the least if we had that matchup.

Sam's just got to be careful not to do stupid things in his own endzone and we'll be fine.

I voted yes because there isn't a reason we should lose.

In seasons past, there has always been one, or multiple glaring weaknesses on the team. This year, there are none.

We have had to deal with unqualified coaches, league worst o lines, running games, and until last year, embarrassing defenses... All at the same time.

We have a better team than everyone left. Sure, any given Sunday holds true. But from my perspective, if we don't win it, it's because we gave it away.

We're as well-positioned as we possibly could be. But I'm still very nervous. SF is a well-coached team playing with house money. And it can be hard to beat the same team twice in a short timespan. Fortunately, we have Macdonald who will have this team focused and prepared to the hilt, though.

Any playoff game I'll be super nervous. We all know how much experience SF has, what they just did on the road and how well coached they are.

I think it's a 7 point win and feels tight most of the game.

Yes.

I think having something that is league best in these playoffs is a massive advantage. All of these teams are good so having a huge advantage by having an elite defense or offense can be the difference and I think Seattle has the single best "unit" of any team left in their defense.

Add in home field, rested, healthy etc and I think they make the SB and win it.

But it is binary, either we make it or we don’t.
There’s no other option.
The outcome is binary. My opinion of it before the fact is more subtle. Forcing a binary choice kills discussion. ;)
