Not to necropost or pick on anyone, but I saw this in a feed of interesting posts and I'm curious how people are feeling now. 🤣

It's pretty funny to see some of these takes. Hindsight being 20/20 and all of that, but it is always interesting to me when people can't see the forest for the trees.

I was the OP on that post. To me, we had become a boring team with no real shot at contending for a title, either squeaking into the playoffs only to become playoff fodder for another team, or going 7-10, 9-8, 9-8, 10-7 and basically just missing the playoffs, but not giving us a high enough pick where we had a very real chance at getting a true blue-chip prospect.

I wanted more than that. I wanted more than mediocrity. I wanted to contend again.

I'm glad my post was taken seriously by the franchise. :)

Is this a serious post? I can never tell these days. If it is my response is, who gives a sh*t, we're winning. Nuff said.

This was originally posted a year ago. At the time Geno our QB, DK was our #1 receiver, we had one of the very worst OL's in the league, one of the worst running games in the league, and arguably the worst OC in the league, among other things.

A lot has changed since then.

I am not going to do the 20/20 hindsight thing, but it was a very odd take when we had a new head coach

I mean we literally got rid of the last head coach because the ownership said this isn't working anymore

4months later you were disappointed that things weren't magically better right away

It was still year 1 with a new head coach. Anyone having huge expectation for that doesn't understand football

This was especially true for Seattle as we had very little cap space and few draft picks. This was always a two year rebuild

We're not a boring team now. Our defense is a wolf pack now, our return game is exciting, we've got emerging stars now in the likes of JSN, Spoon, Murphy, Zabel, and Emmanwori, and we've shown that we're never out of a game. Letting PC go, giving JS increased power in personnel decisions, getting rid of the likes of Geno and DK, and hiring a young innovative coach all served to shake off the yoke of boring mediocrity and bring some real excitement back to the fanbase. It's a good thing.

I loved the hire of Mike MacDonald. Ben Johnson was the only other young innovative coach I really wanted.

That post was purposely written to be hyperbolic at the time. I wanted to see the dawn of a new era of Seahawk football, shed that skin of boring mediocrity we'd become embroiled in. Does anybody remember that?

I get this take, but man, I think our defense is absolutely electric.
Niners O-line must be mesmerized by Brock Purdy because the whole first half all I’ve seen is them turning around and watch him try to juke out Seattle defenders

I'm starting to look more at ownership again now. I'm perfectly aware that any new ownership would be a crapshoot. But I'm growing tired of ownership now. True, you could have a meddlesome owner like the Jets that could condemn your team to something even worse than mediocrity. But I'm ready for a change. Our current ownership is an interim ownership. She has to sell the team according to the estate, but has obviously delayed in doing so. I'm tired of the flatline of our ownership. Even though Allen tended more to the reclusive end of the spectrum, you always knew he was involved and engaged. I just feel nothing about this current interim ownership.
49ers fan ?

Let’s see. 24 wins in the past 2 seasons… and counting. Home field is better now than in the past season or so. Elite defense with depth, a QB that has won 28 games the past two season and almost had 2 different teams with #1 seeds in the NFC in consecutive seasons (although he still has room for improvement). Young team. Salary cap isn’t a problem. Owner isn’t a meddler, see Jerry Jones or the other handful of chitty franchises.

I’ll take our boring team, average GM and defacto ownership group all the way to the Super Bowl. (Or two)

Yeah, I'm aware. I'm just saying that I don't blame anyone for feeling the way the OP felt at this point last season. The offense especially was really hard to watch much of the time, and although our D had improved from earlier in the season, I think a lot of people have forgotten how poorly they played in 3 of our last 4 games.

Things weren't looking great, and there weren't a lot of happy Seahawk fans at this point 1 year ago.

This was especially true for Seattle as we had very little cap space and few draft picks. This was always a two year rebuild

I've written a lot of other posts. That was a more or less hyperbolic wake up call. I was effusive of my praise of MM when we after the bye week, which we went into on a losing note, we came out of it strong. It showed me that players were buying into him at a time when it could easily have gone the other way.

No.

We have the best defense in the NFL and every time we play people they get hurt, like in multiple positions.

We can run the football, by far the meanest and scariest 4th quarter team in the league.

Darnold > JSN

This is a SUPERBOWL RUN!

What the hell are you talking about?

This is what happens when a year old thread gets bumped. People don't realize that it's from a year ago, and respond to year old posts about last year's team as though they are posts from today about this year's team.

You might want to edit your OP in this thread with "this is from 2024" in all caps bold at the top of the post, or you're probably going to be getting a lot more responses like you've already gotten.
