Texas Tech lost to Arizona State. Hmm

And they won every other game they played in pretty dominant fashion, including against BYU twice and against #16 Utah.

Personally, I think Texas Tech vs Oregon is going to be a very good game, and I won't be remotely surprised if Tech wins. They're a very good team, imo.

Edit to add: Their smallest margin of victory was 22 points, and that was against a BYU team that was ranked #7 at the time.

The argument for Notre Dame over JMU is that they are a waaay better football team than JMU is, and they could've at least been competitive against Oregon. JMU never had a chance. This was always going to be a "lambs to the slaughter" game.

Even the CFP committee has JMU no where near a top 12 team. Their very own rankings say JMU is the 24th best team in the country.

This game, and the Tulane game earlier, is a very bad look for the college football playoff, imo.

I get the argument. The issue is they have to let one team from the G5 in. And the ACC was trash this year, and no one wanted to get in for the ACC.

They shouldn’t have ever went past 8 teams in reality. And the fact people want 24 is nuts. That will be about 18 that will never have a real shot at winning the title and have no business being in the playoff.

That's why I posted that I'm wondering if there will be changes after this. Requiring the inclusion of a G5 team is ridiculous. If there is no G5 team that's close to being a top 12 team, then they shouldn't be in, regardless of whether or not they win a weak conference. I don't see the point of including teams that are clearly just going to get curb stomped when they play against the best teams in the country. Including those teams over much better teams that could actually be competitive in the CFP is just retarded.

Totally agree with all of that.

It's supposed to be about winning the National Championship. take the 12 highest ranked teams and seed them accordingly. This isn't basketball where there is always a Cinderella team in March Madness. Put an emphasis on strength of schedule so teams don't fill up on cupcakes.

#19 JMU displaced #9 ND. Then Oregon ran a bunch of wind sprints up and down the feild. Cruise control by the half. They need to change that rule. There will be controversy every ranking. Much more interesting than a feild of 4. Texas Tech is in these playoffs because of NIL and recruiting. Nothing unnatural about it. It's the nature of the game.
