THE ORION REPORT – Week 13

Seahawks 26, Vikings 0
Record: 9–3
Lumen Field, Seattle, Washington

Opening Take

This was the clearest look yet at the evolution of Seattle’s defense. A 26–0 shutout where Minnesota never came close to establishing anything. Pure domination front to back.

Offensively, Seattle didn’t open the game conservative the Vikings forced them into that mode. Their defense dictated heavier reliance on the run, and once it became IMO obvious Darnold was one snap away from a potential momentum swinging mistake because of several free running rushers in his face .the Seahawks made the smart adjustment and shifted into ball control. It wasn’t who they want to be every week, but it was absolutely the right call today.

This was a maturity win adapt to the opponent, don’t beat yourself, and let the defense take it home.

Turning Point

Ernest Jones IV’s 85 yard pick six late in the second quarter blew the game open. At 3–0 it was still tense. At 10–0, the Vikings were finished. Seattle added another Myers FG before halftime, and the defense handled the rest.

Notable Seahawks

Ernest Jones IV 12 tackles, 2 INT, pick-six. Absolute star of the game.

Jason Myers 4/4 FGs (56, 54, plus two more) and 2/2 PAT. Total control of the scoreboard.

Zach Charbonnet 14 for 52 and the closing TD.

Kenneth Walker III 13 for 56, steadying the offense early.

Riq Woolen & Coby Bryant Each with an INT as the secondary overwhelmed Minnesota’s rookie QB. Woolen however, fumbled on his interception return but it didn’t matter.

Michael Dickson Over 50 yards per punt, field position weapon all day.

Final Thoughts

Seattle didn’t just win they imposed their will. This was the kind of defensive performance that reminds you what this franchise was built on. Five takeaways, a shutout, complete control of the line of scrimmage, and a secondary that looked like it knew the Vikings’ route concepts before the ball was snapped.

And here’s the part that should really excite Seahawks fans
This defense is nowhere near its ceiling!!!

We’re watching a unit that’s still learning how good it can be. Ernest Jones IV is breaking out in real time. Woolen and Bryant are finding their swagger again. The front seven is playing faster, more decisive, and more physical. The communication is tightening. The confidence is rising.

And it all points to one truth people tend to forget in today’s NFL
Defense still wins championships.

Not by holding teams to three points every week, but by dictating games, creating turnovers, flipping fields, and making opponents one dimensional. This defense is starting to do all of that and it’s doing it earlier than expected.

If the offense simply avoids the big mistake and finishes a few more drives, Seattle becomes a very real threat in January. Because when you have a defense that’s ascending like this fast, physical, opportunistic you’re never out of any game.

Seattle isn’t just winning.
They’re building something.
And this defense looks like it’s just getting started.

This right here is such an understatment about todays game that a lot of people are overlooking.
This was great recognition by our coaching staff. In the past, we would’ve forced things we adjusted to what was required to win the game.

Seattle didn’t play Jefferson in pure old school man all day they mixed coverages and rotated bodies Woolen, Bryant, Emmanwori, etc. But on the snaps where Jefferson finally got the ball, it was Nick Emmanwori on him including that screen where Jefferson finally made a catch and Emmanwori rodeo dumped him for the unnecessary roughness flag
