This feels like that Ravens vs 9ers match up from 2023 where Macdonald and the Ravens flew into Cali and absolutely gave a 9ers a prison pounding on Christmas Day. This Sunday Macdonald and our Seahawks fly into Cali and will most likely be underdogs for sure. The way the Ravens were playing that season and when they flew to San Francisco, I knew they were going to beat the shit out of them, I just knew it. Our Seahawks defense is NASTY, STONG, RELENTLESS and arguably just as good as that 2023 Ravens defense was that year. I believe when we fly to Cali we're gonna punch the Rams right in the mouth.

I don't think we know what the Rams are yet. They've beaten one good team, the Colts, but a lot of their victories have come against teams like the Titans, Jaguars, Texans, Saints and the Ravens without Lamar Jackson. And they've split with the very depleted 49ers team.

Their defense is for real--they've held opponents to 20 points or less in 5 of their games. But have they played against many good quarterbacks with a competent offense? When they played Jalen Hurts, the Eagles scored 33 points against them.

And I know Matthew Stafford is having a fantastic year, but it feels like a mirage. 37-year-old quarterbacks with a bad back don't have career years. Except for the Texans (against which they only scored 14 points), the Rams have played some pretty poor defenses--the Titans, the Ravens, the Saints. And even the 49ers and the Jaguars are in the bottom half in defense.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Rams are a good team. But just not as good as everyone thinks they are.

Many of those same points could be said about the Seahawks. You can only play who you play. This game is a good barometer of where we are.

As an aside.....I wish people would stop interpreting respect for the Rams as "fear". I'm sure the players aren't scared. It's not fear to say "these are two VERY good teams, possibly the best in the NFL. I'm not sure who will win because they're so evenly matched. Respect." This is a test. A win puts us in the driver's seat for the division crown. A loss doesn't knock us out of the running, and we play again the last game of the year. If there's one thing I'm confident in, it's that our coaching staff looks at every game, win or lose, and holds themselves and the players accountable to improve. I haven't always had that confidence in the past.

This is potentially the difference in the Ram's season. They win this game, they probably continue to win 4 or 5 of their remaining 8 and make the playoffs. They lose, they are "exposed" as a sub-playoff team ang go 3-5 from here, narrowly missing wildcard.

When you're (power) ranked #1, your opponents bring their A game every week. Seahawks have lost to Rams teams that aren't as talented numerous times in the past. This is a grudge-match that has season-extending implications. If the Rams are more prepared, or more hyped, or better coached or even luckier on TOs...they'll take advantage and not look back.

It's a big game. It's a chance to back-up the media buzz. It's also a chance to be "exposed" as over-hyped and "on the rise but not there yet".... One team will walk away with plenty of reasonable reasons (excuses) for the loss and disappear for the 25 season. The other will win the toughest division in football and be at the top of everyone's SB predictions.

Whoa, what?? We play the Cardinals twice, Panthers and Falcons still yet this season. The Bucs also don't exactly look like world beaters right now, we play them too. And we get the Lions at home.

I don't think this game is going to mean much - I think the one on Thursday night in Seattle will decide the division. Both the Rams and Seahawks have absolutely no problem going on the road, so I don't think home field is going to mean much.

The only thing that the winner of Sundays game will get is #1 in power rankings, and a (most likely temporary) one game lead in the division.

This game is the first Seahawks game in years that I've really looked forward to. The Geno years were nearly unwatchable, and this game gets the juices flowing like the 2012/13 Hawks. Me likey.

My opinion of the importance of this game vs the Rams is because of our season opening loss to the Niners. Had we won that game this game would not be as important as it is. But it is, so this game brushes up toward that "must win" category.

The Rams have freaking owned our asses for a while now and Darnold got bitch slapped by these Rams last year. I think it's time to get revenge on these guys. This is our time to shine and let the whole world know "We Are Who We Say We Are" and we're not letting them off the hook.

I see this is a game that we can set the tone for the rest of the season, we have three things to deal with, Rams are good nothing else matters they are a good team. Secondly it is a division game, that makes it more personal, fact they give us fits is another aspect then add we don't like each other. lastly it's on the road.

Now what we have to overcome, our injuries, yes they have some as well but to win we need to overcome ours, being too confident, take the Rams lightly and the scoreboard will look like 21 - 0 real fast, Rams put points up in a hurry. Second respect and stop their resurgent running game. Make Stafford predictable and he forces things. Don't beat ourselves, turnovers, dumb penalties, we have gotton away with it the last two weeks, we will pay for it down there.

If we can do that we can run our scheme on the back and cover up their excellent receivers.

The Rams like their 13 personnel. Hawks are more likely to lean into 12 or 22.

It will be fascinating to see how the more defensive minded MM has his guys prepared to defend this unique kind of attack. VS the more offensive minded McVay.

Should be a hell of a fun game to watch.

One of the more fascinating things is to look at how defenses have reasponded to the Rams 22 and 13 packages.

The Rams started running their offense out of these heavier packages, just about a month or so ago (Seahawks have been doing it all year, so I think a McVay tip of the hat to MM is in order here)

Typically we see defenses respond with a heavy “base” defense, to counteract this attack.

The Seahawks are a huge outlier vs the rest of the league, when it comes to defending against these kinds of heavy packages. They don’t try to stack the box. They stick to their nickelish package, and dare you to come at them.

You would think you could run the ball down their throats with this kind of personnel mismatch, but, so far, they have been able to shut down the run.

Morris, and now Shula, are also phenomenal defensive coordinators. The Rams have never been wanting for a good defense.

It’s a true chess match.

I stopped watching much over the last couple of Russ years and with Geno.

The games were a terrible investment of time.

The PC regime either poorly prepared the team, Russ sleep walked through full halves with dead eyes or Geno threw red zone picks. The team wasn’t a good product.

This team is prime time TV. They beat the ever loving **** out of teams. The other team comes out roughed up like the peak SB year teams
