It caught the studio host by surprise, almost like he did a doubletake on what was said and then agreed.

There was a comment in the game as well about Seattle sneaking up on teams (may have been Dan as well) and then he corrected himself and said "they're not sneaking up on anyone anymore". High praise indeed and nice to hear.

Obviously, I’m poking fun at this since he is a brilliant NFL football mind, but I find it funny that he said “there’s no question in my eyes”.

They have to figure out McVay and at least come away victorious in one of those games. They also cannot afford to lay any eggs against inferior opponents down the stretch here, especially at home like they have in the last few years.

If they want to prove to the league that they are contenders, beat LA, beat SF, and win the damn division in convincing fashion.

I think Dan started down the road to anointing the Hawks the next big title contender based on their first half performance and then was either left to walk back the statement or double down after the mistake riddled 2nd half. Sam started off on fire, but the TOs and his bottom line stats after 60 minutes didn't exactly follow some of the praise Dan was heaping on him and the O. Either way, I think his analysis overall is right. Sam can functional extraordinarily well in this offense and the defense is stout enough to keep us in games even when we lay an egg.

Looking forward to seeing how we stack up against the Rams.

Speaking of "doing something right", Darnold altered his method of ditching the ball when out of time and there is nothing there for him. He is now dirting the ball short of anyone's feet. That proves he is a guy determined to improve and if a guy who is playing better than any other at his position continues to improve the entire team's floor is raised.

Very high praise indeed and I hope this team lives up to that.

Yeah. I think after the disasterous ending against the Bucs, he didn't want that sh*t to happen again.

I only wish he did the same on that Fumble/TD, though.

I am not convinced we are consistent enough to be called super bowl contenders yet. Last night ball security was a big problem, a team better than the Texans would have punished us for 4 turnovers (5 including the Thomas fumble). This week the defence was awesome but last week we could do nothing to stop a Buccs offence the Lions had no problem dealing with.

Our 3 victories against NFC teams were all against teams with 2 wins or less this season while we are 0-2 against teams we are likely to be competing with for a play-off spot. Even the AFC teams we have beaten areh hardly super bowl contenders.

I think the Lions are the only "tier 1" team in the NFC at present, we are in tier 2 with the Packers, Eagles, Rams, 49ers and Buccs, different power rankings put those teams in different orders, Vegas has joint bottom of that tier (with the Buccs), I think we are towards the bottom of that tier, loses to the 49ers and Buccs are likely to affect our seeding if we tie on record.

I think we will probably make the playoffs this season but with a fairly low ranking, I know we have been good on the road but I don't think that is enough to make us super bowl contenders.

Concur. In that game, our cornerbacks and safeties are going to need to keep Rams' receivers in front of them pretty much throughout; otherwise, mass yards in the air and yards-after-catch given up, which is the Rams' forte, is definitely going to happen. Here's hoping our starting CBs and safeties are all still in pretty good condition at that point.

Last night's game was sloppy. Four turnovers and ten penalties. Defense dominated but it was against a 32nd ranked o-line with no offensive weapons once Collins went out. They should dominate.

Offense still can't run the ball effectively. That's going to matter in December and January. They are still struggling to close out games. Playcalling while generally good, is a little baffling at times. Still need better play from the interior o-line.

A lot of things for them to improve on to be top tier. Playoff contender? Sure. SB? Not yet.

Overall I agree. We aren't quite there just yet. And weren't we once again like 3/11 on third downs? That is abysmal. Yes we get bailed out with the dynamic duo (Ginger Jesus and JSN) but that's not sustainable. However, give credit where it's due. We faced the number one scoring defense in the entire NFL and still smacked them in the mouth to the tune of 27 points even with the warts.

Remember we have a injured defense, getting healthier, we have a offense still learning, evident with two receivers in same zone, our running game hot and cold and roles still being addressed. Winning ugly is how you start gaining confidence in each other and in your system, winning the hard way versus wiping up teams. That comes later when everything syncs up. We see flashes, but the consistency isn't there yet.
