For the record, that quote came post game.
Whoops. Looks like keasley kind of zigged where he should've zagged there. ;)

Yeah. Dan remained steadfast in his belief that this team is a Super-Bowl Contender.

And why are they that? THE DEFENSE.

Remember the Ravens D with Ray Lewis and Ed Reed? They took a far less talented QB Trent Dilfer and basically carried him to a ring.

This defense could do the same for Darnold but Darnold wouldn't need carrying the way he's playing.

Someone told jobe and woolen to backup into the receivers lap and defend that way which worked so if they can remember to do it and don't get beat deep we're going to be better from here on out
Definitely an improvement and not sure anybody can stop JSN. He's the best receiver in the game by a big margin and even the best lockdown corners can't stop him
Glad he's on our side

Woolen was not a liability last night.

Has he perhaps learned his lesson?

Or was this just a fluke?
Remember when I jokingly said (after Woolen's concussion) that perhaps the "rookie season" got knocked back into him as opposed to the phrase "Knocked some sense into him"?

Imagine if that was the case and we get "Rookie Season" Woolen the rest of the way.....

Right now, to me, the Seahawks feel like a team similar to where the Lions were a couple years ago: almost there, with the play and results of the current season clarifying which handful of pieces are still needed to bring the team to eliteness. Which, considering things, shouldn't take much more than a year, and a couple of just-the-right trades (should they decide to pull the trigger, but who knows) could greatly expedite things.

I honestly think this is 2012. Next year could be one giant party again.
True getting the team synced up and last of the holes filled and learning how to win and dictate games to opponents, the dictate to opponents is what i am waiting for and you can only do that with a defense.

Obviously, I’m poking fun at this since he is a brilliant NFL football mind, but I find it funny that he said “there’s no question in my eyes”.
I believe that he was really saying, is that my eyes ain't -a-lyin' ;-)

I think Dan started down the road to anointing the Hawks the next big title contender based on their first half performance and then was either left to walk back the statement or double down after the mistake riddled 2nd half. Sam started off on fire, but the TOs and his bottom line stats after 60 minutes didn't exactly follow some of the praise Dan was heaping on him and the O. Either way, I think his analysis overall is right. Sam can functional extraordinarily well in this offense and the defense is stout enough to keep us in games even when we lay an egg.

Looking forward to seeing how we stack up against the Rams.
Kubiac can hardly consider screwing around with the NFC WEST opponents and GIVING them the advantage of some dumb-azz ill-conceived trick play.

I'm not ready to put them in SB contender status just yet.

Last night's game was sloppy. Four turnovers and ten penalties. Defense dominated but it was against a 32nd ranked o-line with no offensive weapons once Collins went out. They should dominate.

Offense still can't run the ball effectively. That's going to matter in December and January. They are still struggling to close out games. Playcalling while generally good, is a little baffling at times. Still need better play from the interior o-line.

A lot of things for them to improve on to be top tier. Playoff contender? Sure. SB? Not yet.
Yeah, no real breakaway runs except for the Charbs TD where he goes in untouched.
That screwy trick play-call w/kupppp that backfired didn't help Kubiackakak look very danged good either.
Reality though, this game wasn't as close as the numbers appeared to be.

The play called was there for the taking. Kupp just overthrew the ball. He said they had been working on that play and that work went well. Just a fluky deal he happened to misfire when it counted.

Really?

I'm wondering, though, if that was the plan...as to the TIMING of it.

I mean why not just continue driving down the field to the goal-line and if they want to do the pass, they can try it with Cooper there for a much shorter and easier throw?

OR they can just run it in with Charbs, go up 21-0, break the spirits of the Texans, and then they can "play around".

I agree that Orlovsky is probably the best on ESPN I remember a little while back he was part of a group that included Rex Ryan and Mike Greenberg they discussing older veteran QBs that were free agents Orlovsky brought up Mac Jones who Orlovsky thought was the best on the market it definitely was not a popular view

Nobody should think we are SB contenders until we get there but this team is showing it can compete with anybody in all ways this season.

It can compete Defensively, it can compete with Special Teams, it can compete with Trap game opponents, it can compete in Road games, it can compete in a Short Week, it can compete in Shoot-Outs and with Offense, it can compete in stadiums where historically they’ve shit the bed, it can compete in games where luck isn’t on their side, it can compete in games they are shooting themselves in the foot, and most importantly it can compete in games where Refs are seemingly against them, (Ive felt all season the only way to beat this Seahawks Dline is to hold them with the Refs either not seeing it or letting it slide)

They don’t always win them but they’ve only been a play or two away in those two losses.

This team health withstanding is basically a trade away of replacing the blackhole that is Anthony Bradford and unlocking the entirety of the offense in being a legit contender.

And even if it doesn’t happen this is still a relatively young team with great veteran leadership and strong culture that should be better deeper into the season than it is now.

We aren’t necessarily seeing the same cracks in the foundation and the same dysfunction that held them back the last 3-5 years. They are finding ways to win or compete despite their weaknesses being exposed. If something is not working they’ve find something that does. If one side of the ball is not holding up the other rises to the occasion. Not saying there isn't shit to fix or things we can get better at but Seahawks have enough of everything to compete with anyone right now. If they make moves to shore up their biggest weaknesses and get healthy and stay healthy they have as good of a chance as anyone to go as far as they want to go.
