That was the 2nd penalty on that play, the other was TB lining up in the neutral zone which was the same player who had the helmet tip. With a ref staring right down the los, there's literally no excuse for missing that penalty, the ref chose to ignore it on a crucial play that completely changed the outcome.
I also don't buy the excuse for missing the hold. It was right in the middle of the field where Darnold was throwing the ball. It wasn't missed, especially when you factor in the officiating throughout the game(like calling Sea for ineligible man downfield and letting Tampa get away with the same obvious penalty that was impossible to miss).
Yeah sure, don't let the refs beat you and play a perfect mistake free game blah blah blah, lol yeah right that's not reality. In the real world, it's a game of inches especially with 2 evenly matched teams, and blown calls do affect the outcome. In that moment when one team was in a good position to overcome the mistakes and refs, the refs chose to not do their job.
