Anyone saying he was the next Aaron Donald was high on their own supply and honestly I don't remember a whole lot of that. Murphy was never the generationally quick get off guy. He has power and quickness but it was never compared to Aaron's by any scout. He was a one of a kind.

Nobody is the next Aaron Donald. The guys is arguably the greatest defensive tackle to ever play the game. But wanting Murphy to be a star is not unreasonable.

No doubt, every first round pick should be a no doubt hall of famer. Being good is not acceptable.

No, Murphy wasn't at all the problem. I'd guess he'll score out better than the majority of our defensive players today. I'm just wanting him to develop into a force. We're lacking in star players on this team.
That's exactly how I feel. I know he get his share of double teams but so do alot of players. I also know he's not getting doubled on every play and I still not hearing his name called. Needs to have a few more TFL's and pressures in my opinion.

Big cat, arguably our lone star, ie, a player with a resemblance of dominance or game changer.

Comparing Charbs or K9 to King Henry is laughable.

So trying to compare Murphy to AD is also laughable.

Exactly. And nobody took the very few who said it seriously either. Comparing any draft pick to AD is ridiculous.
I compare him to our guy Dexter. Dexter was definitely better last year, and he was drafted second round.

Jared Verse is noticeable...the fact most of us forget Murphy is even out there is telling.

I'm leaning towards the possibility of him from stud...to dud...I hope he makes me wrong..but my hopes are fizzling slowly out

He had 2 pressures. I expect more than he’s showing for a first round pick.

I’m going to try and make time to watch the A22 film.

My initial thought is that he’s dealing with double teams on a fairly regular basis, if this is true, that means that someone else should be getting the “pressures”.

You may need to shift your expectations of a first round pick just a bit.

He dealt with double teams a lot last season, if that is also true for this season, he’s doing fine for a rook/2nd year guy.
IMO, a young lineman that immediately demands DTs is a pretty valuable piece of the puzzle.

YMMV

Aaron Donald was moved around from play to play which caused one on one matchups he was able to exploit. Murphy has been stuck at NG down after down. He is doing a fine job at that position but it is not where he can get a lot of attention like he would earn were he able to move around to positions that tend to attract more ops for what draws fan attention.

Thoughts? Not sure I heard his named called today.
They played him again primarily as a nose tackle and that usually has him squeezed by 2 lineman every down. This is a total waste of his talent as a disrupter, IMHO. For a big body that is needed to just plugging run holes and not much else, use Pili or Bohanna until Hankins recovers. Truly need to quit wasting a 1st rd pick on this bullsh*t.
