My thoughts are he’s going to be more Jarran Reed than Aaron Donald. Right after we drafted him so many here were saying he was going to be the next Aaron Donald. I stated I just did not see that from his tape and it looks like my assessment was correct so far.

He wasn't horrible. Held Mccaff's inside runs for the most part. Mcalf got his yards on catches, not runs. They really didn't run much on the inside.
I got to where I wasn't hearing him, so I started to look for him and just watch him.
I would recommend that
He was eating double teams, frequently beating them and being part of the play - really good doing his part against the run today
I don't know if there is an unlock for pressures, etc - but he is definitely difficult to deal with fur other OLs, which opens up things around him
Want to see him stay healthy and develop

I'd have to look at a tape of the game, and maybe it wasn't in the plan, but I didn't see much push from Murphy up into the pocket. Our interior pass rush was pretty nonexistent from my memory.

Yep, he's basically a nose tackle until Hankins is healthy and returns to the team.

He is not bad, in fact quite useful in his own way, just that his way isn't the path to a star.

I didn’t hear his name and decided to watch him for a couple of plays in a row, and those 3-5 plays, he was double teamed, not pushed back, and saw him split double teams some. Didn’t pay attention the rest of the game, but played fantastically from when I did watch.
Yeah, same experience and doubt we were looking at the same split of plays

He also had some pressure on the QB as well. Some people seem determined to crap on him. Our D line was the best part of our team today and he was part of it.
Murphy isn't the problem with the team or the DL.
Next week will make it quite apparent IMVHO.
It is going to take some time for the offense to gel and help with TOP. Defense needs help which is called complimentary football. Granted the defense needs to make more splash plays but the offense can NOT let the defense be that gassed for the rest of the 16 games this season.

He had 2 pressures. I expect more than he’s showing for a first round pick.

No, Murphy wasn't at all the problem. I'd guess he'll score out better than the majority of our defensive players today. I'm just wanting him to develop into a force. We're lacking in star players on this team.
