I haven't been following that closely, but I keep hearing that MVS is a trade candidate. On another note, I am curious how the Hendrickson situation plays out and maybe he gets traded this week with all the cut downs.

I know I’ll catch some serious heat and laugh reacts, but I’m serious. And I understand I’ve put a similar message on another thread, so I’m not trying to spam the forum with my disrespect of Jalen Milroe, but I’ll say the following:

Yes, he’s a project, etc. However, I don’t think he has nearly the limitless ceiling that a lot of folks thinks he has. He appears rather limited and has several issues to his game that may be too much to overcome. And to top it all off, if they were hoping he’d be a gadget guy and the guy getting his tush pushed on short yardage, I don’t even trust him to hold onto the ball now.

I’d rather they hang onto someone who’s currently on the bubble and has a better chance to contribute, like Singleton, Wright, and White.

If the team wants a dual threat QB, they can look in next years draft. If they want a QBOTF, look in next years draft. Milroe is not that guy, imo.

I don't see any way they cut him, but I can respect a differing opinion. I think the 6th and 7th round picks are all on the block.

Milroe isn't going to be cut.

I think they keep 6th rounder OG Bryce Cabeldue. Maybe WR Ricky White?
I could see Cabeldue making the bottom of the roster as a project. There's a multi-way battle for depth positions and as a drafted rookie he might have the most upside. I would be concerned if he was needed early in the season. He's not NFL ready at this point.

There are currently at least 6 WRs ahead of White. He could make the PS, especially if the Seahawks move on from MVS.

What other backup guards would you feel good about coming in and starting early in the season?

I honestly couldn't say. I downloaded the 3 Rams and Seahwks games from a certain Russian site and those were the only 6 preseason games I watched. I specifically focused on the trenches.

If it came to it i'd rather put Jones or Kight in at G rather than Cabeldue or Laumea. Maybe the Seahawks still like Haynes.

Milroe is a lock. I say that agreeing with most of what @Jerhawk says. Dude had a shitty game, the kind a 6th rounder doesn’t make it back from. A third rounder though gets a lot more leverage.

The more accommodating roster rules suggest, to me, that the NFL wants teams to carry 3 quarterbacks for a 17 game schedule.

Hyperbolic tosh. Milroe is a project. He ain't going nowhere, especially considering he didn't play behind a single starting o-lineman on Saturday.

I seriously hope not. But I have to admit that the thought crossed my mind after Packers. I want to see this team making a serious effort in developing Milroe. But if they don’t believe, that could be on table.

Then again, we don’t know what they wanted to see, how they planned the game for him. Maybe they did not want to present his best qualities to other teams? Maybe they wanted to give him a sample of what kind of offense he needs to be able to run… Or maybe he just disappointed, as it kinda looked like.

I want to give him time. Even though it demands a roster spot for a player who does not contribute yet.

If he was a 1st round pick with obvious potential, I’d be on board with using a roster spot for him to sit. Milroe does not fall in that category. Macdonald can’t afford to have a wasted roster spot on the slim chance Milroe becomes a starting caliber QB in 3 years. Nothing he has displayed so far gives promise that he has the ability to diagnose a defense, to throw accurately on a consistent basis and tilt the field in his favor. Now top it off with ball security issues, lackluster game time speed against NFL backups, and he was going against other team’s second, third, fourth stringers…

Lots of red flags.
