I couldn’t find the thread I had on my helmet collection so I’ll just start a new one. I know I am not the only helmetphile here. My current collection consists of two authentic SpeedFlex Seahawks helmets. One, the current blue and the other the new retro silver.

The NFL (or Riddell I should say) has the Axiom3D as their new gen helmet. You see it everywhere on the field now. It looks like this…

Note the distinctive pattern on the side of the helmet. I can’t find these anywhere online. Not eBay, not Green Gridiron which I bought my authentic SpeedFlex helmets from. Any fellow helmet geeks have any insight?

No matter how young or old I am, I love collecting authentic Seahawks helmets and they are a killer addition to my Gameday experience.

The new one may be having trouble meeting the needs of the real players. Not enough of them yet to go retail.

Just spit ballin'.

It’s strange that they are so ubiquitous though which is why I don’t understand why they aren’t for sale anywhere. Watching the games today I would say the SpeedFlex is now about a 60/40 with Axiom3D. The latter is definitely gaining.

I’m sure in a year or two they will be all over the place to purchase. I sent a message to Green Grid Iron asking about them. I’ll see what they say.

First world problems and all.

I remember your original thread Aros, as I am also a closet helmetphile.

Another member had a good explanation as to why the Axiom's are so hard to find. I seem to recall it had something to do with they're each a one-off, as in they're made for players specifically versus mass produced? So if you wanted one, at least now, it would almost have to be a game worn, player specific helmet?

Chime in anyone if I'm misremembering and/or you recall more specifically why the Axiom's are so hard to get your hands on.

P.S. Thanks a lot Aros, now I'm probably going to buy a retro silver helmet in a modern shell like you have there. I guess I didn't need all this extra money anyways...

I have a bunch of the mini helmets that used to be in candy machines. Everything used to be cooler
I actually wrote the company to get a Seahawks helmet to complete my set.

I was so sick of getting duplicate Niners or Raiders helmets!

It worked and they sent me the holy grail.

I think you’re right. Here’s the response:

Thank you for reaching out!

As of right now, we only carry the available Field-Use/ Collectible helmets here: https://www.greengridiron.com/collections/helmets-for-field-use. Due to the precise measurements and technology used in specific helmets, we are not sure how we would make that work. It would have to be hands-on as much as possible.

Just added a new face mask to my authentic throwback. (Also from Green Gridiron)

I also have a current design authentic… but to me, our throwback helmet is the best helmet of all time.

The helmet of my youth. I grew up drawing that damn logo on every book cover I had in school over and over again. Although expensive, it makes me happy every damn time I look at it so it’s worth every penny to me.

This is purely anecdotal, but I’m a pretty active collector of game worn Seahawks gear. Last Spring I came across a gal on OfferUp who worked for the team. I guess when helmets are lightly used, but used beyond the point of repurposing for another player, the team will occasionally allow employees to snag a few. This particular woman had an unassigned Axiom throwback helmet that had been used in practice which I was planning to buy, but she sold it before I could drive over from Eastern WA. I still came away with a practice worn SpeedFlex for a steal of a price which was a pretty cool though.

@hugecanoli and @Aircrew, not sure how I missed your posts from this past August but those are sweet!

@EllisD18 I didn't know about those types of places to look for game worn/used equipment. Love the SpeedFlex!

Still on the lookout for an authentic Axiom3D Seahawks helmet, current era or retro style. Would love both! Please let me know if you come across one.
