Not sure where I read/saw it, but I believe the typical NFL RB misses 3-5 games per season with various injuries. Expecting them to go 17 every year is unrealistic. Having two top runners is a good idea. Having 3 is a luxury.

K9, Charbs, and Holani sounds like a pretty good stable to me.

Here's the breakdown. While he only "missed" 6 games in 2024, he was "limited" in another 4 games, bringing that total up to 10 games either missed or limited.

In games where he was limited, he only averaged 6 carries per game.

It’s been mentioned…this is important.

Availability. Having multiple good backs is a blessing.

I haven’t heard anyone come out and say Charb is just the flat out better back…but, there are players that fit better in some offenses compared to others.

Some NFL Gameday analysts just said the same thing I’ve been thinking. Charbs and Holani are looking real good in Kubiaks offense and K9 may want to get back on the field quick-like.

When you aren’t getting reps, you are bound to decline.

I’d like nothing more than to have a full stable of capable backs. It’s the most wear/tear position.

I think we have leverage here when it comes to this being K9’s contract year.

Walker will be fine. I'd like to see what he can do with this revamped offense though. Everyone else is on a tear this preseason. My biggest knock on Walker has been his underwhelming production as a big play guy, but this OL and scheme looks like he's going to change all of that.

Honest question for those who don’t like K9. If you played any kind of organized football, what position did you play? What position or positions on the field do you feel most comfortable assessing from a place of understanding about that position?

Back in the day I was a RB. Not professionally or collegiately, but I feel I have a better understanding of that position than most others. I also played some DB but wasn’t as good at it and don’t really have the eye to see what makes the difference in DBs. I can look at o linemen and think to myself, it sure looks like he can block but I don’t really have the understanding of the nuances it takes for that position.

I understand the RB position better than other positions. I’m certainly no expert but playing it and watching backs over the years has made it the one position that is clearly my favorite position on a football team.
I look for the basics like size and speed, but I also look for the intangibles. Like vision, twitchiness, change ability, contact, ability to avoid contact, quickness,…

I will tell you all this much from my simple Oldhawkfan observations, K9 is good, really good.

No offense, but how have you come to the conclusion that he's a pure rusher who doesn't contribute on passing plays? I ask because his receiving numbers strongly indicate that your opinion is pretty far off on this.

He can contribute on passing plays so long as he's not called on to block.

I believe he's caught TD passes on wheel routes too. He can catch down field if needed.

He's that 3rd third receiver option that can be split out with 12 and 21 personnel deployments. Looking forward to discovering changes in how he is utilized by this year's new offense.

Yeah, I agree. See what he can do in offenses from real NFL coaching trees rather than *checks notes on who we had last year* that. Kubiak isn't revolutionary or anything, but we'll see.
