Elite means absolutely the best. There can only be a couple. And also if you are elite when the game is ending and your team needs a score, you get the score. In last moments elite QBs with the ball in there hand always win. When you feel doom in the last seconds it’s cause the other teams qb is elite. When you feel like you might win at the end it’s cause your qb is not elite

What is elite? An elite do things the greats can't? Like what? How to measure eliteness? Anyone care to educate ole toffee?

Can an elite QB add 7 points a game? or 3 points? ok, not points, how about 3 additional wins a season? or 2, or 1? Would the cost of having that elite cost the team a few good players? Would the sacrifice of not having those few good players cost 1 game a season? or 2? or 3?

Can one of you smart people educate ole toffee?
I really think elite has to do with being able to take over in the closing seconds. This is why I didn’t trust Geno and also why I used to really trust Russell. Do you remember early in his career when you had that feeling of when Russ gets the ball back at the end we’re gonna win? I used always believe he would get it done, but Russ eliteness got off track when the whole cooking thing started. It’s also a funny juxtaposition because Russ is elite in the last seconds but overall you wonder what the heck he’s doing. Almost like GeNo between the twenty’s=russ in the redzone

Nicely said!! I, however, use wins to define elitism.

Yes, wins are seriously important to being elite. Nothing else matters but getting the W at all cost. That’s true eliteness. Sometimes eliteness isn’t visible until the last second and the greatest of the great start shining as they take the game on their back. The difference between elite and geno is between the ears and only between the ears

If there is an argument to be made that this is an elite level contract, it likely comes in the form of the guaranteed money.

There are at least six players with higher guarantees, but I don’t think that there are ten.

Top ten guaranteed dollars is a good metric for this being elite level contract.

Still, the devil is in the details. Once the contract is public, we can look at things like likely to be earned money versus not likely to be earned money, and this may give us a better sense of what the Niners really think of Purdy.

Probably unnecessary disclaimer, but an elite contract in no way means the player is necessarily elite. In fact most of the elite level contracts are held by QBs that I do not consider elite.
