Just a bunch of mediocre moves to me. Darold=Meh, Kupp=Meh, Lawrence=Meh. They might be better depending on the OL but they're not a SB team and after this year Reed, Kupp, Lawrence are even more over the hill.
I wouldn't call it mediocre moves.

If we examine the defensive moves they make logical sense. JS locked up a key player at each level of the defense to long term deals: Williams, Jones, and Love. Smart cap strategy and having a key anchor to each level of the defense. Other players around these anchor players are on rookie deals or existing deals.

So adding a Lawrence to the mix doesn't hurt you if he is just sub player as you are not relying on him long term to be an anchor player.

But the offense...who is the anchor? Darnold? He is on effectively a 2 year deal. Kupp? Same principle essentially a 2 year deal.

Rest of the players on offense are on rookie deals and may become an anchor on offense if they prove themselves (eg Walker) by being re-signed. But beyond that point the offense has a lot of question marks that goes beyond just the OL.

If you look at 2026 only 26 players are under contract. A lot of players on rookie deals and Williams, Jones and Love.

I'd give this off-season about 7 out of 10 so far. I'm so happy we moved on from GeNO. I think Sam will be an upgrade. Kupp and MVS will help offset the loss of DK. Demarcus Lawrence, nice. Losing out on "the two guys whose names shall not be repeated" hurt. But sign Jenkins and now we're maybe at an 8. Last step: Crush the draft.

Here and there
So far all of our signings aside from QB are aging players with the hope of still having something left in the tank. John's rolling the dice and hoping to hit on these moves. We either hit pay dirt or we are an injury or two from having a long painful season. Not sugar coating and not necessarily saying they were bad signings, but the risk is always there..but then again playing in the NFL is always a risk regardless of age.

If you love that, let me tell you about a guy named Marquez Valdes-Scantling...
Yeah the drops are an issue.

However, what is completely true is that there are very few DB’s in the league that can keep up with his speed. Drops or not they have to honor that talent otherwise it’s a pitch and catch easy 6 points — if he catches it.

If we draft a qb and address the oline, I'll be happy with this offseason. We will likely be in a worse position to draft a top qb next year, so SD had better pan out or we will have set the franchise backwards several years instead of moving it forward. To be fair, I was in favor of them taking a risk, and I'm glad Gepick is gone, so here we go. Buckle up boys and girls. Should be a fun ride for sure. LFG. GO HAWKS!!

The only thing worse then our pass blocking last year was our run blocking

There is still a lot of time left in the offseason but if we don’t drastically fix the line all these moves that have created some excitement will not pan out

They have cash, 10 picks, and a lot of opportunity ahead to do it right.

I understand this but after seeing what Schneider has put on the field in terms of the offensive line, I have serious trust issues with him to be able to fix it.
