Who in free agency is that perfect solution exactly? Who should they have brought in? Russ? Rodgers? Fields? Like who? They brought in the guy that made the most sense and has potential to be very good (and yes he was very good last year). That's a good job by JS. Darnold didn't have to come here but JS got him and and on a good contract.

They got draft picks for the guys who wanted out so thats a job well done. No one was going to be giving up picks for Geno 3 years ago. A second for DK is pretty good considering his contract. What else did you think he should have done? We haven't even seen what happens in the draft yet either.
This is a whole lotta cope.

Who should they have brought in? They didn't need to bring in anybody.

Let's not get carried away. With the exception of Ernest Jones (nice do), all JS has done so far is plug holes before the draft. Well done, but we haven't fixed the O-Line, or made any kind of splash.

One thing that rankles me a bit is this thought that IOL is our only concern. I'm not sold on our tackles yet. Take Lucas. This guy had the most opaque and mysterious knee injury I can remember. Usually its a torn ACL, ruptured achilles, damaged pantellar or meniscus, something you can gauge a recover time for. I never knew what his injury was, and, correct me if I'm wrong, I never heard anything conclusive about it from him or the team. There was a LOT of smoke that it was a chronic knee problem that was never going to really heal, but something to be managed. There was never any denial about this, as far as i know.

As for Cross, as far as my eyes can tell, he's only proven to be an average at best LT.

Point being, it's not just the IOL to me, at least as of now. The whole thing is still a question mark for me.
He has been making good moves long before EJ

I think your avatar gives you away. Geno wanted out of here. That's fine, but I'm pretty sure JS would have to replace his starting QB and he got the best one available. Good for JS.
I've been ok with letting Geno go. I am genuinely ok with Darnold as much as I think he's going to be significantly worse than 2024 (I still think he's a productive QB).

I really dislike the Kupp and MVS signing and I don't have faith in the draft. That is all.

I was talking about this off-season. Nobody around the NFL is talking about how greatly we've improved our team so far. We've basically plugged holes (some holes of our own creating), and set ourselves up for the draft which we sure as hell better hit on. And our O-Line is still a GIANT question mark.

Yeah I get this offseason, but I think what we are seeing with Schneider is a pattern of being able to overcome

What is it you think he should have done though? He set us up for BPA in the draft that's a job well done imo. Who is it that they should have signed exactly?

I'm just giving a reality check here. That's all.

What holes were of our own creating?

Geno wanted out, and DK verbally requested. Or we could have massively overpaid for him, even further disabling our ability to build the line

We improved our finances and have at the very least tread water while opening up draft picks and cap space to improve

I'm not going to get bogged down in semantics here, but we replaced Geno with Darnold, and Metcalf with Kupp. We replaced our own holes, and maybe, or maybe not to our advantage.

Why do you dislike them though?
MVS never has been good. Lot of drops. Had prime Aaron Rodgers and never put anything consistenly together. Now he's 30. Would be surprised if he's even on the team.

Kupp -- hasn't been healthy in years and is 32. His talent is undeniable when he was healthy and was productive last year when he was on the field. I guess I'll wait for the incentive structure and guaranteed money to have a final say -- but I'm just not excited about a guy on the tail end of his career.

That being said, if the contract is about time on field and guaranteed money is the first year -- I'm more ok with it.

Lawrence is similar, a 32 year old coming off an injury year where he played opposite the best edge player in the league.

John pivots like a point guard. He always finds a way to make the best of it and now he’s replaced his qb and wr and fixed his cap and now we’re back in the drivers seat and scary. It doesn’t matter what the problem is, no draft picks watch this, oh my qb wants out, bye bye, oh my qb wants out again bye bye, geno was better than what Russ became and now watch Darnold surpass Geno. Even when he makes mistakes he fixes it (Percy). Schneider has a brass pair and will take his swing. I like him as our GM
I hate to be the negative guy. Who doesn’t like John Schneider the person. For years I thought he was the greatest. But as I evaluate his body of work over the last few years, I find myself questioning his player talent judgement.

I really don’t know that a Seahawk GM had a worse year than John.

Here is a list of Free Agents signed last year, that are no longer with the team:

George Fant, Rayshawn Jenkins, Tyrel Dodson, Jerome Baker, Laviska Shenault, Laken Tomlinson

With the exception of Jenkins none of these players played well.

Here is who we lost last year:

Bobby Wagner – a solid performer/leader

Jordyn Brooks – read about how much Miami likes Brooks. He was a perfect fit for Mike MacDonald

Damien Lewis – anybody that plays fantasy can see the turn around in Carolina’s running game. Lewis is a stud.

Dre Locke – who appears to be about a million times better than Sam Howell.

We were all worried the Oline might be an issue coming into 2024. To help fix the problem, too much celebration, he drafted Christian Hayes 81st overall. Not only did he look horrible the coaching staff benched him because he lacked the desired physical strength! Mean while the 49ers with the 86th pick grabbed Dominick Puni, who started all 17 games and is considered to be a future all pro.

Last year’s Oline was the worst in the NFL. It was frustrating to watch. Has there ever been a good Oline during his tenure?

And we went through another Offensive Coordinator.

It frustrates me that we only got a 2nd pick for DK when we gave up 2 1sts and a 3rd for Adams. For years we have been giving away draft picks like they don’t matter. The 2021 draft is a great example only 3 picks: Eskridge, Tre Brown and Forsythe (none of them are on the team).

John Schneider has many skills and actually has a lot of wisdom. I think he should be bumped up to president.

Unsure. I don't like many of the FAs out there.

Then again, I don't get paid millions to build a team roster.
The problem is JS lost the benefit of the doubt. Saying 'there was nothing out there to fill the holes with' isn't an excuse. He had years to fill some of those holes, he just failed at it.

We have poured resources into fixing the OL and DL. Most of our attempts were either meh results or abject failure.

We did create a whole new series of problems in turning our strength (passing game, notably WRs) into a weakness. Then we filled the holes with some players that have as many questions as they do anything. But we have a strong record of getting good WRs, so I am less worried about that.

This seems like a treading water year. I don't see ANY field tilters on this team. Maybe next year? But it doesn't look hopeless either.

Honestly, it feels like we will have a much better defense than offense this year. But even that is up in the air. At this point, all that matters is results - not excuses. We will see but its very 8 wins looking so far.
