There were reports that Johnson would've taken the Jacksonville job if it wasn't for Baalke. Now that another name withdrew from consideration, they had no choice but to remove the stain from their franchise. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to work with him, he's proven to be a terrible GM, he was lucky to get the job in Jacksonville, and last as long as he has.

Completely agree. Hopefully they can right the ship. They have good pieces. I like that franchise, they have some really good pieces on offense and defense

Jim Harbaugh left or was let go from Santa Clara 49ers because of Baalke.

Baalke somehow managed to get branded as a draft genius by stealing credit from McCloughan after Harbaugh turned SF around, just in time to strip the cupboards bare. I wish the 49ers had kept him. He's a complete ******* idiot.

I mean...if that was the case wouldn't they have let Baalke go earlier in order to land Johnson?

It sounds like they weren't intending to fire Baalke, and they only did so after their hand was forced. I doubt Johnson went to that interview and requested that Baalke be fired, that's a bad look on his part. It also would've been a bad look on Jacksonville's part to fire Baalke right before hiring Johnson, but not right after firing Pederson. If the reports are true, their hesitation cost them.

Khan is such a moron. Everyone knew keeping Baalke was going to screw them. Funny that it took having Tampa's OC turn down their request to interview for the head coach job for Khan to finally realize that maybe Baalke had become a bit of a liability. He was probably like "Dammit, that was our safety candidate!".

Now the Jags, losing out on some of the top candidates are either gonna have to scrape the barrel or wait for the results of the Championship games and pick off some coordinator from whoever the loser is in the NFC or AFC.
