Our best coordinator in a long while, easily. He had games where he would chimp out (Dallas) but other than that he was a solid OC. He may not be flashy, but he was like a Toyota, he got the job done. He also was good at adjustments and he wasn't beholden to one scheme either. If something didn't work with a player, he'd tailor his system, see Russell Wilson. The guy seems to have a knack for bringing up QB's too. Drew Brees went out of his way to thank Schotty for developing him as a passer.

I'd love to see Schotty back if We fire Grubb. Schotty is likely going to be let go because McCarthy is likely on his way out in Dallas, so that would be a possibility.
Remember the good old days when they had Schotty and the fans complained how bad he was and if only they had an OC who was better at this or that. Now he's a suggested choice to bring back. Don't know what you got till it's gone.
Hindsight. I think sometimes the entitled freedom to constantly complian about anything and everything is the preference. 😆

4 of 5 lions lineman were drafted. It’s scouting. We need a new scout room.
Scouting coukd very well be the issue.

But the other thing here for me is...what are the chances/odds that every lineman that is drafted or signed ends up being absolute 💩 without poor coaching of OLmen not being a huge factor?

Maybe start from scratch with a new scout team and OL coaching staff and see how it affects the OL.

Schotty didn't get very many complaints outside of the Dallas game that I remember. Specifically after the fact when we saw that RW could really only operate out of one offense. I remember a lot of people being against his hire initially, myself included. At the time he ran a really old school Air Coryell offense, but when he was here he ran a lot more of a modern looking offense.

I specifically liked his usage of motion, crossing routes and pocket motions to get Wilson on the move. That is something that Waldron really struggled at despite coming from a system that is supposed to emphasize these things.

The LRC got him fired and it was the end of Me3.

The best part about Seattle's problem, IOL doesn't break the bank.

IF that is where the problems are, and 2 dudes is all it takes to be better than terrible? Sign me up son!

That seems so much easier to find a competent player, than a QB, RB, TE, WR, anything on DEF [to me]. Also, I think Seattle's unit outside of a couple guys are as useless as bags of mango pulp. So, just gimmie a little...anything.

Its probably the fans. 12s have been pretty toxic to players not performing. Even when they already leave the team. Not to mention them not even helping with home field noise. During Wilson era Seahawks had a 73% win rate at home, unlike now we are below .500. 48%

Im not even sure if the fan noise disrupts oppositions offense anymore. When was the last time the fans rocked the house? I can only think of the Panthers game last year.
get a real offensive line again and the 12'swill rock the house start by drafting alabama offensive guard tyler booker!!!!!!

Fair enough. Maybe I'm not remembering entirety.

But I still feel like fans were always grumbling about a lack of effective screen game and.figuring out how to use the middle of the field (but maybe that was solely on RW).

The "LRC" movement pushed Schotty out unfortunately. People forget how bad Russell and the O were on 3rd downs forever until Schotty cleaned Russell up and made him somewhat respectable from the pocket playing on-time.

Well I for one now believe in our first year defensive head coach who improved our defense drastically this season. Im thinking coach will definitely address the trenches next year. Quandre was a lazy lousy player and is currently on a bottom feeder team with a terrible defense so I dont know why hes talking.
Agree and disagree. QD was a top flight player while in a Seahawks uni for several seasons, but regressed in his later seasons. This 'statement' of his did not really say anything specifically, leaving it open for wild interpretation. And that is exactly what is happening.
Totally agree on our HC. I don't see how anyone could disagree on that.

Sometimes even good players lose their drive when theyve laid themselves on the line for a system that is dysfunctional and broken. Think on this for a moment. Diggs was brought here to be a key part ofbthe rebirth of 'Boom' in Seattle. Over his first few years, the dude was instrumental in maintaining respectability for our secondary. When he wasnt in, we went from bad to awful.

And when he was here, he had to live through Ken Norton (no longers a DC), Hurtt (no longer a DC) and the fall of Pete Carrol.
Diggs was pouring himself into a sinking ship. It didnt matter how well he played, the whole thing was F'd, and F'd not just for one year, but for several.

Was his last year here bad? Yeah, but je isnt the first great player to have his soul sucked out of him and desire to play squashed by misguided leadership.

I wish he hadnt put his frustrations on tape via uninspired play the dude was far from the problem, and no matter how well he played, he wouldn't have been part of the solution. It was just time to part ways.

But i 200% believe that he knows what he is talking about when he says whats wrong in Seattle has been wrong.

That's quite a Quandary...He needs to write a check. He was sometimes average and was paid like a star.
He digs a hole with his bitter take. Hee hee

Denver went all in on oline got a new qb and it worked. Top ranked line....developing qb.
I don't want this team paying $30M a year for its guards in a world of mobile, escapable quarterbacks. You can kiss good defense goodbye if you want that. There just isn't room for an NFL team to pay every single position like blue-chippers, and choices have to be made.

John is trying to be economical at a position that's lessened in its importance over the past 20 years, no matter how hard people refuse to believe it. Unfortunately, John has been bad enough at finding average play at that position that it only fuels the unbelief.
