Carlos Santana rejected a two-year deal from the Mariners that had more guaranteed money to take a one-year, $12 million offer from the Guardians:

I'm not disappointed because Santana is 39 years old, and I'm not sure if you can expect that much from him at this point. In his one year in Seattle, he had a .693 OPS. I also wouldn't read too much into him rejecting Seattle since he has a long history in Cleveland, having spent 10 of his best years there.

Hopefully, this will force Dipoto into considering better options.

The fact that the M's were desperate to sign a 39 year old player shows just how much Jerry has messed this whole thing up. Every year they are allegedly looking at adding guys who are years past their prime. Their best bet is a platoon of Raley with either Turner or Locklear. Sometimes Turner plays vs a righty & Raley plays OF or DH for Arozarena who we all know will be struggling to hit above .215-220 with the M's. They should probably sell him back to Tampa for pennies on the dollar, as he doesn't want to be in Seattle.
