Geno is the classic can't walk the walk, but says all the right stuff. Glad he's back from injury, but he's always been a Tannehil, Cousins, Fitzpatrick, etc. A hired gun to keep a team above .500 and allows coaches to bide their time before ownership sees through their faults. Although good/great QB play can be had, it's inconsistant and ultimately will never result in a parade at the end of the season.

Glad he's back because Sam Howell sucks.

This may be the last three games Geno wears the Seahawks uniform, and guys like toffee ought to treasure these swan songs.

Biggest problem with Geno's Seahawks career? He couldn't sell "hope", which led to attendance issue. He wasn't and isn't loved by majority of 12s. With that, ownership would reluctantly trade him.
I mean… he hasn’t won anything either, I don’t won’t to be sold hope like snake oil, I just wanna see W’s and obviously a superbowl

Not a single playoff win. Average record. I would LOVE to be proven wrong. Until I see differently, he is what he is. An average QB who isn't clutch in the big games vs. really good teams.
Stats between the 20's don't equate to wins. Look at Kirk Cousins. After this season, he will have made $321 million dollars in his career. For ONE playoff win.

Plenty of stats.......just not the one that matters.

FWIW:
Apparently it only applies if one or both feet are planted on the ground. Geno was fully in the air at contact.
That's a nonsense caveat IMO. It basically states that if the QB jumps into the air or lifts one foot off of the ground to avoid a defender diving at his knees or lower, the defender is no longer guilty of doing the diving...

How much sense would it make if the law said that if I was TBoned in an intersection while standing still and had the ROW, the other driver would be at fault. BUT... IF I ACTUALLY MOVED TO AVOID GETTING CLOBBERED, there would be no fault...

Huh?

By the letter of the idiotic law, there was no foul. The only way for Geno to have drawn a penalty would have been for him to stand there with his feet planted and have his knees torn up, possibly ending his season or even jeopardizing his career.

It should be illegal to dive at a qbs knees. Period.

Fair enough, I therefore foresee a trade unless we go into playoff and do well, advanced beyond the first round.

Honestly I would hope they keep him next year and get a good future qb somewhere hopefully the draft but it doesn’t seem like we will get that early of a pick without trading so then it feels like we are picking in the second round of QBs so it’s gonna be a crapshoot, otherwise the options to replace Geno aren’t any better or they’d already be on the team. I guess I do have hope in Geno maybe I ain’t sold but he’s good enough to get it done if things go right

I just wanted to point out, elite QBs don't grow on trees. Let's not sign Sam Darnold for $45 million per year.

QBs are hard to draft, the league's premier QB guru, let's say Shanahan traded up for Trey Lance, and he also passed on Darnold (?). McVay, another guru, passed on Darnold and Mayfield. Belichick lucked into Brady, who was passed by none other than Bill Walsh, he picked a QB in the third round with Brady very much available. The dude Walsh picked never played in the league.

I certainly won't put myself in the same league as Shanahan and company, I do treasure Geno because he is good enough to win when 80% of the system working. Some better QB may be able to win with merely 70% or 65% of the system working.

What Geno can not do is put butts in the stadium a young QB could, because that young QB provides hope and excitement to the fan base. That young first round QB may never develop into as good a QB as Geno, but fans can dream, they can hope.
