We saw and lived this story ourselves. The stars get expensive, get old, get injured. The coaching gets stale. Too many bad drafts in a row deplete the overall roster talent level. You hope that "just need to fix a few things in the offseason" changes things. But it doesn't really work that way.

49ers 2024 draft was good so far. The top 6 picks are contributing. The top 4 are starting right now

That's one draft (and a rookie one at that so who knows how it evolves). And on that, Pearsall had a slow start for obvious reasons, but he has 11 receptions on 17 targets for 132 yards (6 games played). The last two games, he has 0 receptions on 2 targets. I'm not sure him being a starter right now means much. The 49ers actual star power is old, expensive, and injured. That's how franchises decay. When a team is at its peak, you have to win the SB or else...because it's inevitably downhill from there.

I think he will be fine . Receivers don't usually hit their stride until year 3. Look at JSN. I also think he tweaked his knee last game

Don't you get tired of defending?
It gets tiring, we know.. The team peaks, people get paid, age sets in,
injuries pile and coaching starts to get stale.
We know firsthand and it sucks when it happens, nothing lasts forever.

He was commenting on Ricky Pearsall in a 49ers thread. Not sure you can write off the Ricky Pearsall pick yet.

Don't get me wrong, the season has been really disappointing, but to say the 49ers are done and will not be in contention for the division next year is optimistic on your point. They are still in contention this year!

Well, I never said they were out ect
But this is how it starts to the end for every team is what I did post.
I just notice you defending them just like we were (Hawks) when it
was obvious baring miracles happening.
The windows aren't for long ...

The other thing that I forget (which we also painfully witnessed) is that you become a victim of your own success. Losing top coordinators and executives to other teams. At some point, the brain drain becomes too much.

They’ll be 2 games back on Sunday. Bills will steamroll that awful defense
