One doesn't have to justify, does one? She becomes a 12 because of her father or just like the team color, what's the difference?
My daughters are 12's because of my fandom while they were growing up, and I've never seen fit to question their fandom. I often watch Hawks games with them and my sons-in-law when we're all in town.

I now live in Florida, and I found myself consoling some fair-weather Dolphin fans on YT after the Hawks beat them earlier this season, explaining to them the Hawks are actually a decent team and when Tua comes back, good things will happen for their team, and no, Tua and McDaniel actually don't horribly suck. Our fandom of a team becomes part of who we are. My younger daughter went to college in Cleveland, and I got exposed to all things Dog-Pound through her. She's still a 12 after returning to the Pac NW.

If you are a 12, why would you want Hawks fandom to be geographically restricted? Lol, I live SoCal desert with 2 'local' NFL teams and 2 more closer than Seattle. Can I still be a 12?
Absolutely. I'm not bashing Kimes because she's a Hawks fan. I'm just merely asking how she landed on the Hawks as her favorite team because she's not from here. I've seen some of her stuff on TV and YouTube and she doesn't seem like a die hard fan to me. She seems to be more of a fan when they are winning consistently. SHe' lives in LA, why isn't she a Rams fan or a Chargers fan. I don't know if any of you on here been outside of Washington, I have and there isn't a lot of diehard fans outside of Washington. When I run into Hawks fan in another state the first question I ask them is, how long have you been a fan for. Most of them say since the SB against Denver or the last few years. One person told me that his favorite team was the falcons and because they weren't winning enough he jumped on Seattle's bandwagon. I went into a sports bar in Texas a few years ago thinking there's gonna be Texans and Cowboy fans all over the place. There were but it was a mix of other teams. I was the only Hawk fan in the place. I walked in wearing my 12 jersey and hat and everyone stared at me when I walked in. It got so uncomfortable that I left.

Still you continue to question her fandom. Every fan has the right to fan however they wish but in this particular case you are judging her fandom by her job. Do you realize how crazy that is? She could be rabid at home about the Seahawks but that’s not going to show up on her work.

Secondly you ask of any of us have been outside of Washington (because you have) without even understanding what several have told you already. Many of us on this forum do not live in Washington and many of those may have never lived in Washington. We all have our reasons for becoming Seahawks fans and one could argue that rooting for a team that isn’t local to you takes more work as a fan but that doesn’t mean either is right or better.

You can agree with her takes you can disagree with her takes but what you cannot ever do is question her fandom as you have no clue

@hawks85, who the hell are you to question somebody else's right to be a Seahawks fan, no matter where she was born?

I was born in New Jersey and grew up in Maine. I have lived in Brazil for over 24 years. I have no family from the Pacific Northwest, have never lived there, and have no connection to that region other than a friend who lives there now. I never even visited there until 2019. However, I have been a Seahawks fan since the 1976 preseason. The Seahawks were my first favorite sports team, and Jim Zorn was my first childhood sports hero. By 1977, all the kids in the small town in Maine where I grew up knew I was a Seahawks fan, so I felt like a celebrity the day after the Seahawks beat the Bills 56-17.

If you want to question somebody's right to be a Seahawks fan on geographic grounds, I invite you to kiss my blue-and-green-since-'76 ass.

I don't think she needs to justify to you or any of us why she's a Seahawks fan; or how she conduct herself as a 12. Who the F has what it takes to ask anyone that kind of questions.

For ole toffee, I followed Pete to the Hawks. I became a Carroll fan boy after briefest conversations with Stubblefield and Woodall, both neighbors. Seifert, another neighbor, never gave his opinion on Pete, but he never talks football with us.

Happy?

Not bad, the whole panel had relevant things to say, more about Kyler and Cardinals weapons than the Seahawks, but Mina does chime in on the total LB changeover in the MacD Seattle defense and how past results with previous LBs may not be predictive of current performance with new LBs Jones and the rookie. The whole panel is *entertaining* and does a nice job of setting up how *interesting* the matchup should be. That's their job, to attract emotions and eyeballs. Well done.

What they didn't really address is the matchup between the Seahawks offense and the Cardinals' defense. Except the one guy who thought Kenneth Walker would have a good day.

I simply find I get more in-depth analysis from the football minds on this board, that by the time I listen to the "national" media, that often, these types of points have already been discussed and rehashed that it's like the media people are cherry-picking from here. For example, not one mentioned the impact of the return of Abe Lucas or the promotion of Olu Oluwatimi to the starting O-Line rotation. If, with better O-Line play, Seattle can create a bruising ground game, that will dramatically affect the way the game turns out.

I feel that often media faces can be "assigned", by producers, to rep a certain take on the teams, players and game, again, for *entertainment* purposes. Just doing their job.

Not really intending to diss the national media, or Mina (though some deserve a major diss, like clown-ass Nick Wright), just saying I don't view their content as essential analysis for betting men, compared to other sources. For drinking men, absolutely, go all in, have fun, but maybe place any bets before the drinking.
Fair. And for the first time ever, small content creators are filling my Hawk coverage needs. A combo of HawkBlogger, Rob Staton, and Dan Viens provide such thorough coverage; and it starts conversations.

I would think it would be very difficult to try to report about your favorite team while trying to not be biased in your reporting. That could easily come off as not being fan enough but thats the cost of trying to write without a fan bias.

Obviously we here would love to read her stuff if it was full of Seahawks rah rah but she has to report for a much wider audience
Very true. Homerism isn’t a good trait to have as an analyst. Unless it’s anti-homerism (SAS and Dallas as an example).

If anything, I give her props for calling it as she sees it.

Alright, I see what your saying and I apologize if I ruffled anyones feathers on this. With her, I just don't see her being a true fan. I think she's a fair weather fan. That's just my opinion. I think she started becoming a fan right around the LOB era. Was she fan in 2010 when Pete arrived and we got rocked that entire year and the next. If so, did she still support the team or jump ship. I ask this because with her takes on the Seahawks in real time today, she seems more like a hater than a supporter.

You’re still confusing her work opinions with her personal fandom. Who someone feels will win a game has nothing to do with being a fan. Especially if it’s your job to make picks and analysis. As long as she roots for the Seahawks to win and to get better when they don’t, that’s all any fan really needs to do

It might benefit your view if you read the article below.

Mina talks about her childhood, being raised by a Seahawks fan of a father. Watching Largent, Kennedy and Jones. Watching Hasselbeck’s famous words vs GB. Watching SBXL.

I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest this is as similar a tale of Seahawks fandom beginnings as many other people have on this forum.

As for her takes on today’s team? It’s her job. She gets paid to be objective. That’s the gig.

Think she’s too critical of the current team? …Have you been watching this team this year? 😀

She is far more positive on the Hawks than Colin cowherd who is supposedly a fan and from here and she's always been open about being a fan. Her segments with Jacson bevans on cigar thoughts are also a good listen.

She might not be high on the Hawks this year but being realistic we are .500 i know lots of Hawks fans who didn't think we would win last week

If she truly got Hawks tattoo after the SB, that qualifies as a true fan to me.

I understand now. She’s got a job to do. While she’s at home no cameras, she’s cursing at the refs like the rest of us lol

Apparently you don’t understand. You are right that she has a job to do but how she fans privately is something nobody here knows and honestly isn’t our business.

I am of the opinion that how fans express their emotions or opinions are their own business. There is no standard, or convention.

A fan could be face painting, jersey wearing, vocalizing at the stadium. Or stay at home, quietly watching the game on TV etc. Both are fans.
