Here is a list of the new coaches this year, and how they're doing. (Not including interim Jets' head coach.) I thought it might give us some perspective.
Dan Quinn, Commanders: 6-2 (last year 4-13)
Raheem Morris, Falcons: 5-3 (last year 7-10)
Jim Harbaugh, Chargers: 4-3 (last year 5-12)
Mike Macdonald, Seahawks: 4-4 (last year 9-8)
Jerod Mayo, Patriots: 2-6 (last year 4-13)
Brian Callahan, Titans: 1-6 (last year 6-11)
Dave Canales, Panthers: 1-7 (last year 2-15)
Only the Seahawks' had a winning record last season, while the other teams were a big mess, with several being serious dumpster fires.
For me, the big surprise is how Dan Quinn is doing with the Commanders. I seriously underestimated him. He did get Jayden Daniels, but on the other hand, he took the NFL's worst defense from last year and has made them a top-10 unit, and that's after they sold off some major pieces before the trading deadline last year. Jim Harbaugh is doing his typical good job, but he's not setting the world on fire. The Falcons have definitely improved, but they also signed Kirk Cousins after having no decent QBs the last couple of years. We all knew that the Patriots, Titans and Panthers aren't going to be competitive for a while.
