Been really liking how our guys are getting pressure. We just need to turn some more of these pressures into sacks. Lost a few against the Patriots Sunday that I though were in the bank.

Mafe is seriously underrated. I went to Mile High Report before the Broncos game (BTW, what a load of homers, ALL their 'experts' picked Denver to beat Seattle AND Pissburgh), and they were talking about how much easier it would be for Nix with our best pass rusher, Nwosu, out. Not downplaying Nwosu's value, but completely ignored how Mafe stepped up when Nwosu went down last season.

Not surprised at all. I see very special things from the defense with MacDonald as HC, and I called Boye Mafe being at the top of the list for most sacks on this team for this season. Hopefully they can keep it going and the league can go back to HATING playing against the Hawks because of their defense.

i hope we can get back to the days of teams having multiple players needing a week off after playing us. Oh I remember the days.
And for a while, teams that played us also lost the next week because 1) they were beat up, and 2) we gave a blueprint on how to do it. Not all teams had the same resources to throw at it, but the results were often the same.

I believe they were able to get that pressure while being 20th in blitz rate.
I believe a good deal of this is due to MacDonald's scheme. You never know where the pressure is going to come from. They'll show you one look and then switch it up after the ball is snapped. You never know who is dropping into coverage and who is coming for you. Murphy is also an unsung hero here.

Nwosu could be back any time now, correct? MCL sprain 2-6 weeks? Is that still the expectation?

I can't wait to see how this team looks if Nwosu comes back and looks like he did.

As for the sprain, yeah, I believe so. They specifically left him off IR so that he didn't have to miss 4 games, so you'd have to assume they were expecting he could make it back by Week 3 or 4 and I haven't heard anyone speculate otherwise.

Both Nix and Brissett are quite slippery in the pocket

It's just going to get better as the scheme becomes fully installed, they learn it, and Nuoso comes back--A LOT BETTER
Super pumped to see Nwosu in this defense. We've already got a stout front with some great edge pressure, adding a stud like him is only going to elevate this team.
